The First Descendant’s resource grind for crafting better gear will be familiar to looter shooter fans. While its currencies and resources can seem daunting, the game clearly shows you what you need to unlock new characters and weapons. One source of important materials is the Reconstructed Device. It’s an odd teal globe that lets you pick from a set of rewards. Here’s where you can find it and what it has to offer.

Where can you find the Reconstructed Device
You can find Reconstructed Devices after a Void Intercept boss fight like the Grave Walker or a Void Fusion Reactor mission. They look like teal globes with zig-zag designs on them. A green gear UI element will point you towards its location.
If you want to take part in Void Intercept battles, speak to Seneca or find these boss fights in the World Map. They are tied to campaign progression so you won’t get to pick from all the bosses early on. As for Void Fusion Reactor missions, they are scattered across the game’s many regions. They are marked by a golden vortex icon and you need to destroy Void Fragments to use them. These are tied to specific elements, meaning that they will reward you with different shards based on their elemental affinity.
How to use the Reconstructed Device
You can interact with the Reconstructed Device by holding the ‘E’ button on your PC, letting you choose between Amorphous Materials as a reward. These materials have a chance of dropping an item from a set loot pool. Here’s an optimal way of using the Reconstructed Device to get the rewards you want:
- Head to Magister Anais at Albion first to learn more about which materials you need for a specific item. You’ll be able to check out their drop rates as well.
- This will show you which Void Intercept and Void Fusion Reactor missions you should complete to unlock specific Descendants or weapons. Go ahead and clear the mission’s objectives or final boss from the World Map or region.
- This will then spawn a Reconstructed Device in-game for you to interact with. It usually has a timer so check it out right after a mission ends. Here, you’ll get to pick from different Amorphous Material Patterns, which in turn have a chance of giving you certain items.
- A Shape Stabilizer can be used here to improve your odds of getting your desired drops. Get these helpful items by finishing specific missions.
