- Go to the Descendant tab in your Inventory to find the Descendant List. You can pick between your unlocked characters here.
- You can customise them in the Customise menu in your Inventory. But you cannot change the name of your character.
The First Descendant offers a variety of characters to pick from, letting you find heroes that suit your specific playstyle. And while all of them can use the same weapons, items like Reactors synergize well with the right elements. Void missions require you to pick specific elemental attacks so you’re bound to hop between characters sooner or later. Here’s how you can do it in-game.
How to switch characters in the game
To hop between Descendants, head to the Inventory by pressing ‘I’ on your keyboard or the Start button on a controller. Then head over to the Descendant tab. Here, either press ‘G’ on a PC or select the Descendant List to pick between the characters you’ve unlocked. You can press ‘G’ right as you start a game to drop in as a character of your choice as well. While you’ll unlock Bunny early, the others can take a while to unlock from Magister Anais. When you begin the game, you get to pick between Viessa, Ajax, and Lepic.
How to change cosmetics for your characters
At the moment, most of these options are tied to paid purchases or Twitch drops. To customise your Descendant, head to the Inventory tab and then enter the Customise tab, which offers the following options:
- Descendant skins
- Weapon skins
- Spawn
- Grappling Hooks
- UI Theme
- Name Card
- Ecive Skin
- Emotes
Can you change your name in-game?
No, there is no way to change your name in the game. It automatically sets this based on the first platform you use to access The First Descendant. Changing your Steam, Xbox, or PlayStation account name will not change this. You can’t change this via a Nexon account either. It’s a strange omission and the only way around this is to start the game with your account having the desired name. This might be changed later on as the developer updates The First Descendant.
