Wondering whether Starfield VR is on the cards for your playthrough? Starfield is set to give Bethesda fans the opportunity to explore space in a way that few games have before, and players will want to know whether they can get the full experience by playing the game in VR. After all, it’s hard to imagine a better way to immerse yourself in the worlds of the Settled Systems than to slip on a headset and be there yourself.
Speaking of the Settled Systems, be sure to familiarise yourself with the Starfield map before you blast off in-game. And if you’re wondering whether or not you’ll be able to play with friends, take a look at our is Starfield multiplayer guide to find out. With that, let’s take a look at Starfield VR and if you’ll be taking the game on in virtual reality.
Does Starfield have VR?
Unfortunately, Starfield does not currently support VR, and we do not currently know of any plans for it to do so in the future. Starfield is potentially the biggest game that Bethesda have ever made, and it’s perhaps no surprise that any VR plans haven’t been at the forefront of their priorities thus far. With a game of this size, making sure that the game works perfectly on PC and consoles is likely the main focus of the Bethesda team at the moment before they can even begin to think about VR.
While Starfield won’t have VR support at launch, this doesn’t mean that it will never happen. There are a host of Bethesda titles that have released without VR that have since received VR support in the years after, including Fallout 4 VR in 2017, and Skyrim VR in 2018. This means that fans can certainly keep their hopes up for an eventual VR port of Starfield.
Nevertheless, even if the potential is there for a VR port, we wouldn’t expect it to come along for a while yet. It took Fallout 4 around two years to receive its VR port, and Starfield being a much larger game in comparison, it would likely take far longer than that to receive any kind of VR support.
