Midnite is the first true boss you’ll face in Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope, at the end of the second world; Pristine Peaks. One of Cursa’s Spark Hunters, Midnite is a ghostly foe that can teleport, buff her allies, and deal a ghoulish amount of damage. With three phases, a tricky transforming battlefield, and a host of backup baddies, Midnite is assuredly the most difficult challenge you’ve faced so far in Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope

We’ll help you turn the tables on this spectral Spark Hunter and unlock Rabbid Rosalina with our Sparks of Hope boss guide.

The Battle against Midnite brings with it a welcome surprise. Rabbid Rosalina joins your squad. She is an incredible addition to the team, boasting stun abilities, excellent firepower, and cover destruction abilities. Be sure to improve her abilities with skill prisms before the battle starts and you’ll have a much easier time against Midnite.

What’s more, you are able to select four combatants for the first time in this fight. Don’t expect to use four party members in every battle however, it’s a temporary boost to even the odds against Midnite and Sparks of Hope’s other powerful bosses.

When choosing your team comp for this battle, it is highly recommended to bring along Rabbid Peach. This fight will run longer than any you’ve dealt with so far, as much a test of endurance as it is a combat puzzle. Having a healer along prevents you from getting too worn down throughout the battle’s three phases.

Rabbid Rosalina is also invaluable in this battle. If you invested in her weapon tree, she’ll be able to take huge chunks out of Midnite’s health, destroying cover and clearing a path for your allies’ shots.

Use Rabbid Rosalina’s stasis to hold the Squashers and Bob-ombs in place. The Squashers can be ignored for a while or picked off at your leisure, and the Bob-ombs are much easier to pick up and throw when they aren’t dashing at your party in a hurry to explore.

Midnight’s defenses are not especially high, she relies on careful positioning and boosting her allies to do damage for her. Chase her down and pick off her allies along the way.

Look sharp, even after depleting Midnite’s considerable pool of health, the battle is only just beginning.

With the battlefield shifting into a new form, take your time, restock and heal if needs be. It can help to bring along a stock of super mushrooms, as well as relying on Rabbid Peach for heals. Any defeated party members from the previous phase will come back at 1HP, so have them take cover until they’re back in fighting shape.

While it can be tempting to dash to Midnite as soon as possible, exercise caution. As in the first phase, Midnite will warp to a different battlefield position at the end of each turn. The last thing you want is to fail to finish her off and leave your party vulnerable to shots from newly-appearing Lone Wolves with high ground.

If you have a high-power character like Rabbid Mario around, use Rabbid Rosalina’s Stasis to lock Midnite in place before you pass the turn, preventing her from escaping via teleport and leaving her vulnerable to another round of attacks

Midnite’s shots grow progressively more powerful with each phase, and by this point, she can almost one-shot your party from mid-long range. Thankfully, the final form of the battlefield for this stage is a fairly straightforward climb up the stairway toward her. Rabbid Rosalina’s stasis is as useful here for depriving Midnite of her attacks as it is holding her in place.

Even when hiding behind bookcases and teleporting to raised platforms, Midnite remains an easy target, so long as your party isn’t mostly comprised of close-range characters.

Take your time and whittle her health away, and soon you’ll exorcise this perilous poltergeist.
