Space Marine 2’s campaign has a feature that allows players to equip heavy weapons that offer some very strong bursts of power. These include the Heavy Bolter, Heavy Plasma Incinerator, and the Multi-Melta. When you equip one, you’ll need to use the Heavy Stance, which enables its special features otherwise you’re blind firing inefficiently. Here’s how to use the Heavy Stance effectively.Â
How to use Heavy Stance in Space Marine 2
To enter the Heavy Stance, you simply need to aim a heavy weapon. In other words, look down the sights to enter Heavy Stance. When aiming, your marine will adopt of firm stance with their feet firmly planted in the ground. When in Heavy Stance, fire rate, stability, and accuracy are all enhanced.
Heavy Stance comes with a burnout reticle. The longer you hold the fire button the more the accuracy degrades. Take controlled bursts to keep the gun effective. You’ll also get a zoom-in effect to help target selection against key threats at range or in a horde. Additionally, Heavy Stance drastically reduces mobility and removes the ability to dodge enemies and their attacks, making you somewhat of a sitting duck. If you do dodge, you’ll leave the stance.
If you don’t enter Heavy Stance when using heavy weapons, you’ll hip-fire instead, which produces random accuracy penalties. The fire rate is also drastically lowered.
If you plan on playing Eternal War and Operations as the Heavy class, you will need to enter the mode to play your class. The Heavy Stance is extremely important for harassing most enemies in these modes. Otherwise, you aren’t getting the most out of the class nor its weapons. These weapons are very strong in Operations because they can be used to easily shred through Terminus enemies, like the Carnifex, for example.
The Heavy class Strategic Stand perk, which restores 15% of contested health when in Heavy Stance, is well worth getting. You’ll also want to prioritise weapon upgrades that improve the stance. Top picks include:
- Heavy Immunity – Heavy Attacks won’t break Heavy Stance.
- Heavy Might – Heavy Stance deals 15% extra damage.
- Heavy Fire – Heavy Stance increases fire rate by 15%.
- Heavy Velocity – In Heavy Stance, shot charge 10% faster.
