South Park: Snow Day tips and tricks

After playing through all the missions and testing Henrietta’s Horde mode out, we’ve compiled a list of helpful tips for players entering South Park: Snow Day’s Kupa Keep. Read on to prepare for its many challenges, particularly at the Hard difficulty.

Keep track of the health of both yourself and your allies

Fortunately, losing your health doesn’t end a run. Your allies can still revive you. But on hard difficulties, they can fall to enemy attacks before reviving you. So be mindful of when you should approach enemies. Keep healing your allies if possible too.

AI companions can distract enemies and revive you

While human players are going to do better than bots, don’t ignore the latter. They can still deal damage, draw enemies away from you, and revive you in a pinch. They’re not very smart though, and will even walk away from healing totems on low health. But they’re still worth taking care of.

Bring a healing power or invest in health upgrades

Since health is going to be a big deal at higher difficulties, consider bringing the Healing Totem power along. If you really want to bring two offensive powers to a fight instead, try investing in cards that enhance your survivability. Some let you get more health pack drops from enemies while others increase your base health.

Each weapon and power has unique card upgrades

Every ranged and melee weapon in South Park: Snow Day has its possible card upgrades. These extend to the powers you can equip before a run as well. For instance, the Wand’s flamethrower attack can be switched to chain lightning that burns foes. And the dagger can gain backstab damage. Be mindful of how you’re combining these cards to make the most of them.

Respec your Dark Matter perks based on your loadout

Dark Matter is a permanent currency you earn in Snow Day’s missions that can be spent on perks. You can refund these points and slot them into different perks at no additional cost. So if one build could use more stamina while another could benefit from health upgrades, slot your Dark Matter in the right perks for each run.

Human players can let you strategize your weapons and powers in advance

By pairing the right powers together, you’ll be able to sweep enemies off the map with ease in Snow Day. You can’t do this with AI companions as you cannot pick their powers.

Don’t be grossed out, frozen, burnt, or bled to death by status effects

Status effects are important in South Park: Snow Day. While they won’t trigger until a floating bar is filled, keep track of them. Being grossed out causes you to puke, stunning you in combat with a lengthy animation. Burns and bleeding wounds will drain your health over time so get to healing immediately. You can inflict these on enemies as well.

Try to take out archers and siege units first

Enemy modifiers like flaming arrows or enhanced siege can deal devastating damage from a distance. So try to close the gap and take these units out whenever possible. Sure, melee enemies like Shield Bearers can be annoying too but ranged units tend to have low health. Watch out for the snipers whose bolts can insta-freeze you.

Be wary of enemies that can stunlock you

Some enemies like the adults with Dark Matter grappling hooks can stun you in place as you try to break free. This can quickly cause you to take a lot of damage so try to avoid these attacks in the first place. That might be a tall ask when you’re swarmed with foes but focus on AoE attacks and powers to take out as many enemies as possible.
