Best tips and tricks for RoboCop: Rogue City

Here is a list of all our best tips and tricks for RoboCop: Rogue City. While these will help you out from near the start of the game, they’ll stay useful throughout, so pay close attention and get to using them as soon as you can.

Unlock your abilities

RoboCop has four abilities that he can unlock that can improve his combat abilities. These are a dash, a shield, a shockwave, and the ability to briefly slow time. Each of these abilities can be a massive help, especially if you’re struggling in combat, and once you’ve unlocked them, they’re available for the rest of the game. In particular, we found the dash helpful as it helps you avoid damage, close the space between you and an enemy, or simply just get around the level faster.

Use your surroundings

If you haven’t noticed yet, most areas are filled with all sorts of explosive materials from gas canisters and explosive barrels to motorbikes, and these can clear out whole rooms of enemies at once. Pick them up and throw them at a large group of enemies to kill them all instantly, or if you see them standing near a barrel, shoot it to blow them all up. This is especially useful against bosses as each explosion will deal massive damage to them – just make sure they hit.

Aim for weak spots

Plenty of enemies have weak spots which result in critical damage, and more often than not, a one-hit kill. Your average human enemies typically take one hit to the head to be killed, so take your time and line up those shots to dispatch them quickly, especially if breaching a door.

Later enemies wear protective helmets which prevent them from being headshot, so aim for their body or limbs. Robots in the late game will start attacking other robots if you destroy their heads. Pay attention to how you can use each enemy’s weak spot to your advantage to clear groups of enemies quickly.

Upgrade your Auto 9

As you progress, you’ll start finding OCP circuit boards which allow you to upgrade your Auto 9 with faster reload speed, armour piercing rounds, and even added gore. This will quickly make your Auto 9 as good as, if not better than most of the guns you’ll find from enemies, and by the final mission, we were only swapping it out for long-range weapons like sniper rifles. Don’t ignore your Auto 9 as it can be one of the best weapons in the game with the right upgrades.

Help out around the neighbourhood

In the sections where you’re out and about in Old Detroit, it might seem that there’s nothing much to do, but completing some of the side quests around here opens up an important opportunity later on in the story. By performing tasks for the local citizens and earning their trust, a certain choice becomes available to you later on which lets you influence the outcome of the story. We won’t say more than that for spoiler reasons, just be sure to help out your fellow Detroiters.

Explore side rooms

In every mission, you’ll walk past plenty of side rooms and areas which initially look to be just any other room. Check these as you walk past, as they often have extra heals and crime evidence. This is especially important on the later levels as the game becomes harder and heals become harder to come by. Check your surroundings, as it could be the difference between life and death.
