ED-209 strategy guide
ED-209 has a lot of health and hits hard if you’re not careful, so you’re going to have to play safely if you want to come out alive on the other side. Here are a few things you can implement into your gameplay to make sure you come out on top.
Aim for its speaker box
At the start of the fight, Ulysses will tell you that ED-209 units returning from field operations typically have damage around their speaker. You can use this to your advantage, shooting the area to score critical hits and deal much higher damage. If you keep this up throughout the whole fight, you’ll cut the time it takes to down ED in half.
Use explosives
The arena is full of different types of explosives, such as gas canisters. These can deal massive damage, and if you hit all of them, could easily take off around half of ED’s health just like that. As you’re running around the arena, dodging attacks, make sure to pick up and throw any explosives you come across. Just make sure ED isn’t firing at you while you do it, otherwise they could explode in your face and damage you instead.
Use cover
There’s plenty of cover around the arena, most notably in the form of the concrete pillars. ED doesn’t fire continuously, which means you can often safely wait out its attacks behind one of these pillars and come out when it’s safe to deal some damage. Don’t stay in the same place, though. Kite around from pillar to pillar, dealing damage along the way, and picking up any heals and guns you find hidden there.
Use your abilities
By this point, you’ve probably unlocked a couple of, if not all of your abilities. And you should use them. Your shield lets you tank a massive amount of damage, facing ED head on and dishing out some damage of your own, while your dash lets you quickly slip in and out of cover. They won’t beat ED on their own, but they certainly make the fight much easier.
