Resident Evil 4 Remake Saddler fight - keeping the first form at bay

Saddler once held sway over the island as Los Illuminados’ cult leader, but here he discards all pretence of charisma and control, letting the parasite run wild and using sheer brute force in an attempt to take you down.

You’ll have a great deal of freedom in how you move around during the fight, so be sure to take advantage of it. The arena is littered with crates to restock your ammo if you’re running low, and you’ll often need to make space to stay out of Saddler’s way as he advances.

Saddler Boss Tips – First Form

Resident Evil 4 Remake Saddler fight - Leon aims at the large eyes on Saddler's mutated body

The main eye inside Saddler’s mouth will be your main target throughout this part of the fight. While smaller than the eyes on his extremities, hitting this with your strongest weapons should be your priority.

With a steady aim, you can keep your focus on the main eye with powerful and accurate weapons like the Killer7 oe Stingray. But if you want an easier time targeting it, destroy each of the larger eyes around the body to temporarily stun Saddler andset him up to take massive damage.

Partway through the fight, Saddler will summon a swarm of Novistadors to attack and slow you down. These foes have been an annoyance through all of Resident Evil 4 Remake, and it’s no different here. If you don’t want them tripping you up at a key moment, alternate between keeping an eye on Saddler and picking off the swarm.

Alternatively, if you keep moving the Novistadors will have a harm time getting in close enough to damage you, keeping your distance and focusing down Saddler is a valid tactic.

Final Form

Saddler's final form

The majority of the battle is done after Saddler’s first form is defeated, but he still has a trick up his sleeve. For the final stage of the fight, Saddler will morph into a writhing mass of tendrils with his original body at the core.

As soon as this stage begins, start firing with whatever you have left at the core. It’s almost impossible to miss at this point. Don’t spend all your time aiming, however. Tendrils will periodically slam down on your platform, requiring Leon to keep moving or take heavy damage.

Your shots won’t initially be doing much, but that’s because you aren’t using the right tool for the job. After surviving for a short amount of time, Ada will throw Leon the series’ staple rocket launcher. Pick up the launcher, aim it at the core and fire to finish Saddler for good.
