Capcom have addressed a ‘critical progress bug’ in the Resident Evil 4 Remake, though no fix has been provided just yet.
Labelled “rare,” the bug is said to “occur under very specific circumstances,” which the RE4 developers have stated in a Tweet earlier today. The statement highlights how this bug occurs, which we’ve transcribed below:
“A cutscene will play at the beginning of Chapter 12, after which the player will receive a key item. Please refrain from attacking with the knife until the notification for obtaining this item is displayed in the upper right of the screen.“
They’ve stated that they “intend to fix this issue in a future update,” though for now the only solution is to listen to their advice on how to avoid it.

It’s not clear how severe the bug is, though it seems to complicate things save data, possibly corrupting game files.
If it’s anything like the flickering lights bug, it won’t be too severe and a fix will be provided shortly, so we’re going to have to sit tight until Capcom release an update for the game.
Amongst a flurry of games released with severe glitches and performance issues, it’s refreshing to see Capcom with their finger on the pulse, and it seems as though this won’t be an issue for long.
