Every Pokemon game and every Pokemon region has had a beginner normal type Pokemon that seems to plague the beginning routes. Kanto has Rattata, Hoeen has Zigzagoon, Sinnoh has Bifoof.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet continue this trend by bringing Lechonk along with the region of Paldea. Easy to catch, easy to train, and being available in the first areas of the game, Lechonk, the pig Pokemon, is an excellent addition for beginner trainers.

One very important thing to keep a lookout for when catching Lechonk is its gender. The reason for this is that the gender of Lechonk will determine the innate ability it will learn when it evolves into Oinkologne.
In addition to its abilities, the gender of the Lechonk will also determine the appearance of its evolution form. For example, a female Lechonk has a bridger face color, while a male one’s face is the same color as its body.

How to Evolve Lechonk into Oinkologne

Because Lechonk is such a beginner friendly Pokemon, it’s only logical that the evolving process would be as simple as possible too. All you have to do to evolve your Lechonk is train it till level 18 at which point it will naturally evolve into Oinkologne.
While you shouldn’t have any problems leveling your Lechonk up by battling either wild or enemy trainer Pokemon, if you find yourself struggling, then using EXP candies is a very quick and efficient method to level your Pokemon up.

Final Thoughts
Because of how early on in the game players can catch Lechonk, as well as how easy it is to evolve it into Oinkologne, it’s very likely that most beginner trainers will have this normal type pig Pokemon as their team’s heavy hitter for a good chunk of the game.
Having there be two different types of Oinkologne without them being two different Pokemon also adds a sense of personalization to the game, as trainers can freely choose the one they want basing on either abilities or looks.
