Foongus is a relatively older Pokemon and a part of Generation V introduced way back in 2010 in Pokemon Black and White on the Nintendo DS. Legends have it that the developers of the hit game Among Us were heavily inspired by the name of the evolved form of Foongus. They tweaked the letters a bit to escape a lawsuit, but all the signs point towards it.

How To Get Foongus In Scarlet and Violet?

Foongus is a rarer Pokemon to find, with its habitat distributed in only 3 areas of the Paldea Region. You can find Foongus in the Area Three of the West Province, around the Tagtree Thicket, and between the Area One and Area Two of the North Province.

Because it’s a Grass/Poison type, lead with attacks that do Fire, Flying, Psychic, or Ice damage to bring its HP down quickly. Watch out for the Grass attacks it does, especially Mega Drain, which can absolutely annihilate your Water type Pokemon.

With that said, you can also directly go for the evolved form, Amoonguss, and skip the grind. Similar to Foongus, Amoonguss is also very uncommon to find and inhabits the northern coast of the Casseroya Lake and between the Area One and Area Two of the North Province.

How To Evolve Foongus?

This is a fairly difficult task, so don’t say we didn’t warn you beforehand. Evolving the smaller mushroom into its larger and stronger version takes a massive amount of grinding. It automatically evolves into Amoonguss, but only once it hits Level 39.

You’d argue that this is way too time-consuming for a Grass type Pokemon, but we would advise you to go ahead with it either way. The fact that Amoonguss can learn a lot of status effect moves can help turn the tables in your favor and can become a core Pokemon in the strategy that you chose to go with.

Use as many Rare Candies or EXP Candies as you can, if the grind gets too much to bear. You can farm these from Tera Raid Battles and they’ll help you skip some rungs when climbing the ladder to evolve Foongus.

Final Thoughts

Foongus can be a worthy addition to your roster, primarily because of the fact that it is a heavily defensive Pokemon that can learn a lot of status moves. The level cap to evolve Foongus is quite high, at Level 39, but in our opinion, it is worthwhile in the end. Looking for more helpful Pokemon Scarlet and Violet guides?
