If you want to upgrade Pal stats, then you need to know how to get Pal souls in Palworld. Pal souls are an interesting mechanic that Pocketpair has decided to include in their hit survival game. They’re not the most straightforward mechanic and many players struggle with knowing how to get them and what to do with them.

What are Pal souls?

Pal souls are an item in Palworld that is used to upgrade a Pal’s stats at a Statue of Power. They aren’t what makes a Pal a Pal in the same sense of a human soul. They are also not an item that can be crafted, so they’re a little challenging to find. They’re pretty useful, though, so it’s worth the grind.

How to farm Pal Souls

Pal souls can be found on the ground, in chests, on bosses in dungeons, in the open world, and they will occasionally drop when you defeat syndicate towers. They can also drop from deceased humans or Pals, but not all of them. The Paldeck details whether or not the specific Pal can drop them. There are small Pal Souls, Medium, and Large. Small ones are green, Medium ones are pink, and Large souls are yellow.

Since the chest loot and drops from other items are rare, it’s easiest to farm Pal souls by simply defeating the above Pals. That makes Medium souls hard to find since only Helzephyr can drop them. Nevertheless, find and defeat as many of these Pals as you can and you’ll probably come away with a pretty good haul. This is an endless tactic, so as long as you can find the Pals, you can have unlimited Pal souls to farm.

Cawgnito, Daedream, Felbat, Maraith, Nox and Tombat spawn pretty frequently, and there’s tons of them. You can kill them to farm Pal souls with no real drawback. Daedream might not spawn, but it will at night. We found some at the coordinates 221, -480. It’s near the original spawn point when you start the game. They will spawn at night but won’t immediately go away in the daytime, so you can catch or kill them.

It is important to note that Anubis and Necromus only spawn one place. The others are pretty easy to find at various points, but these two are not, so if you want Large Souls, you’ll need to be very careful about this. This is arguably something you should only attempt when set up well and in the late game.

Anubis is located in the Twilight Dunes near a Statue of Power at coordinates-132, -100. It is level 47, so you need to be high level yourself. When you get there, we do not recommend killing it for the Souls. Instead, do your absolute best to catch it and then breed it for more so you can kill them for souls.

Necromus is found to the northwest of the Deep Sand Dunes teleport spot. Go directly to coordinates 446, 680. It will only spawn at night. During the day, that spot will have Paladius. It is a Legendary Pal, so again, do not kill it. Capture it and breed it, and then you can use the offspring for souls if you’d like. This is an effective farm.

Finally, Helzephyr spawns at coordinates -14, -293. Go there and capture it or kill it. It will look like this. This is, as with the above Pals, no easy feat. Once again, we recommend doing this in the late game.

✓ Pro Tip

You should choose which Pals to upgrade carefully. You may like a certain Pal, but if another is being used for your base, it might be worth an enhancement and since Pal souls are not super common, you have to be picky.

How to use Pal souls at the Statue of Power

To use Pal Souls, you will need to have or have access to a Statue of Power. The statues do sometimes spawn out in the open world (at the Desolate Church, for example), but they can also be unlocked and crafted. When you hit Level 6 in the Technology Tree, you can use Stone and Paldium Fragments to make a Statue of Power.

When you have or have found the statue, go to it and press the correct button to enhance a Pal’s stats. You can only enhance one stat at a time, so choose carefully for your Medium Pal souls and others. Here’s what you can do with souls:
