Also, be sure to check out how to spectate in Overwatch 2 so you can check out your friend’s games and watch them. But, if you’re just looking for how to rank up fast, we’re here to tell you how.

How to rank up in Overwatch 2

The best way to rank up in Overwatch 2 is to win games. Competitive Play and your rank is almost entirely based on whether you win or lose, and you’ll rank up fastest by winning the matches you play. This is especially true if you win them consecutively. You gain more SR if you continue to win games in a row.

Your rank is determined by your SR, or skill rating, which is a number score given to you based on your play. The number will go up when you win, and down when you lose.

When you just start out playing Competitive, you will begin unranked. To achieve a rank, you either need to win five games or lose 15 games, whichever one you achieve first. Previously this was either seven wins or 20 losses, but this was adjusted after Season 3. From there, winning games will bring your rank up, and losing games will bring your rank down.

Tips for ranking up fast in Overwatch 2

Some tips for winning games we have in Overwatch 2 are:

  • Find a team to play with
  • Play heroes you like
  • Practice your hero in Training or Hero Mastery

Team composition is one of the biggest factors in whether you win or lose in Overwatch 2, and having a solid team makes all the difference. You can join up with players at the end of a match if you want to stick together or gather your friends to make a team. When you understand each other and can communicate during matches with voice chat, you’re able to play better.

Another important tip is to play heroes that you like to play. You’re much more likely to win if you’re enjoying the gameplay. If you aren’t having fun, you’re not going to play as well, which is going to cost you. You’ll end up losing if you’re not a good healer but are forcing yourself to play healer. Whether you want to play the new hero Mauga, an offensive hero like Genji, or even Widowmaker, it’s best to play who you want to.

Choose your role

Overwatch 2 has role queue for Competitive Play, so you’re able to choose while role you want to play the match as, whether thats Support, Tank, or Damage. You can also choose All, which will queue you up for whatever role is needed. Don’t queue up a role that you don’t like to play!

Finally, you can practice the heroes you like in the Training mode or Hero Mastery mode to improve your gameplay. This can be aim, knowing when to use your abilities and how best to use them, and even just getting better at moving around the map. Don’t discount these modes just because they seem like they’re for beginners.

All Overwatch 2 ranks

There are eight skill tiers in Overwatch 2, just like the first game. These ranks, from lowest to highest, are:

  • Bronze: 1-1499 SR
  • Silver: 1500-1999 SR
  • Gold: 2000-2499 SR
  • Platinum: 2500-2999 SR
  • Diamond: 3000-3499 SR
  • Master: 3500 or higher SR
  • Grandmaster: 3500 or higher SR
  • Top 500

Bronze is the lowest rank in Competitive Play, while Top 500 is the best 500 players in the region. As your SR goes up, you can advance to higher ranks. However, if your SR goes down from losing games, your rank can go down.

That’s everything you need to know about ranking up in Overwatch 2. Be sure to check out all Season 8 skins and the Season 8 battle pass so you can play Overwatch 2’s Competitive Play in style.
