There’s talk of a crazy ritual and some pretty seedy cultist activity over in Coastside Plaza. Despite this, the settlement is well worth visiting if only to pick up the Cultist’s Treasure Map as part of the Lost in Madness quest. And, as these things so often go, there’s a bit of loot to snap up if you see the treasure hunt through to its end.

Though finding the treasure map isn’t all that tough courtesy of obvious quest markers, finding the location it hints at is a whole other challenge. We’ll walk you through where to find the Cultist Treasure Map location.

How to start the Lost in Madness quest and get the Cultist Treasure Map

To start the Lost in Madness quest and pick up the Cultist Treasure map, you’ll need to head to the Coastside Plaza settlement in the east of the game’s starting zone. You should see a blue diamond quest marker on the map detailing the Lost in Madness quest.

Once you reach the Coastside Plaza, look for a cluster of shipping containers arranged in a sort of market and a store called BN Mart to the east of the road that cuts through the settlement. The quest marker should lead you right to where you need to be. 

Head inside BN Mart to find a sketchy looking ritual scene with a corner decked out with red symbols and candles. Interact with the red candle on the floor. A chest will spawn with the Cultist’s Treasure Map inside. Open the map up in your inventory to see a pretty opaque clue about where to find the treasure. The quest objective also changes, hinting at a place in Chalk Peak.

Cultist’s Treasure Map location

The Cultist’s Treasure Map location is in the Believer Colony settlement in Chalk Peak. It’s located west of the Tall Grass Inn hub, southeast of the Monolith of Thirst, and northeast of the Rotten Saddle settlement. Note that you can only access Chalk Peak once you’ve hit level 35. If you try to approach the area underleveled you’ll get a flurry of warning messages and eventually be killed and ported away from the area.

Once you reach the Believer Colony, head up to the upper level and enter the shack in the northwest of the encampment. On the floor is a crate labelled Believer’s Treasure Chest. Loot the chest to complete the Lost in Madness quest. It doesn’t contain much in terms of juicy loot – no blueprints or weapons. Instead, you’ll bag some EXP and Energy Link.
