Yes, No Man’s Sky offers crossplay and cross-platform multiplayer between players on all platforms where the game is available – PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, MacOS, and Xbox. The feature was introduced as part of an update released in June, 2020, to coincide with the game’s Xbox Game Pass launch, where developer Hello Games unveiled that players on all platforms can ‘explore, journey, survive, build, and trade together’ thanks to a brand new networking architecture that allows players to play No Man’s Sky together regardless of their platform.

How does crossplay work in No Man’s Sky?

To start playing crossplay with friends, there are several things you need to do:

• Start a fresh save or have an existing save in the game mode (normal, survive, etc.) you want to play multiplayer in. Have your friends do the same.
• Load up the save (if you’re starting up a new one, progress through the opening tutorial section until you visit the first Anomaly).
• Bring up the menu and navigate to the Options tab along the top.
• Under options go to Network, then enable Multiplayer and the ‘Can you join my group’ options to what suits you best (invite tends to be best to avoid randoms joining).
• In the same Network menu, select ‘View No Man’s Sky Friends List’ then select ‘Show My No Man’s Sky Friend Code.’
• Copy the code and send it to your friend(s). Get your friend(s) to send you their friend code as well.
• Tap the ‘Add No Man’s Sky Friend’ at the bottom then copy paste in your friend(s) code to add them to your friends list.
• Quit your save and return to the main menu. 
• Select Multiplayer where you’ll see a list of available sessions based on who you’ve added to your friends list.
• Select the session you want to join and wait to load in.
• Alternatively, you can load up your save and have your friends do the steps above to join your game.

Does No Man’s Sky have cross-progression? 

Yes and no, No Man’s Sky only has cross-progression and cross-save for specific platforms – Xbox and PC. So, if you’re hoping to jump between PlayStation and PC on the same save, that isn’t an option.
