NBA 2K24 The W Details

Despite still very much being a work in progress, The W in NBA 2K has evolved into a great game mode ever since it made its debut back in NBA 2K21 for next-generation players. Following a successful season with the mode in NBA 2K23, The W will be taking a new shape and form in NBA 2K24, presenting a variety of enhancements that will make it one of the best experiences in the game mode’s history.

From new ways to live out your journey and build your legacy, to new mini pick-up games you compete in, to several new rewards you can unlock and use to customise your player, NBA 2K24 will be home to various new changes in The W. And down below, we touch upon the most important details from the new mode that the NBA 2K team revealed today.

Choose Your Path

Before you jump into The W come 2K Day, you will be able to choose the path you want to embark on. The choices are A) you can enter the league as a college hoops sensation with a starting overall of 75, or B) join the WNBA as a low-profile, up-and-coming talent with valuable international experience who will have a starting overall of 85.

As a college hoops star, the focus will be on your development and how you handle the media spotlight considering your national notoriety. Whereas the up-and-coming talent option will allow you to surprise the league with your talent as an unknown star following a successful tenure overseas. Getting to decide which path you want to take is a great twist and easily one of the best features for The W in NBA 2K24.

Chase Greatness

Though picking your path will get you jumpstarted on your journey the way you see fit, you will need to prove yourself and your greatness by chasing the best in the league. Throughout the course of the season, fans will have to engage in position battles with a rival star player, and based on their performances, will see how they compare to their rival.

To prove you’re the best at your position and one of the best on your team, securing a spot in the All-Star Game, winning the Commissioner’s Cup, and lifting the WNBA Finals trophy in The W will all factor into your success in achieving just that.

Pick-Up Games

A key feature in NBA 2K23’s The W was that of Contact Challenges, where you’d choose which WNBA connections to collect. However, this year fans will be able to earn badge perks by competing against veterans from their team, a star player from a position battle, and legends of the game. These three different pick-up options will pop up as off-day events throughout your seasons, granting you plenty of opportunities to earn badge perks so you can tap into your player’s potential.

The W Rewards

In NBA 2K23, The W introduced a variety of great rewards throughout the course of the game, and NBA 2K24 will be no different. By winning games and completing challenges, fans will be able to earn updated 2K Breakthrough Skins, MyTEAM Jersey Cards, and MyTEAM Shoe Cards from The W. In addition, fans will also have seasonal badge perks to claim for competing in The W Online. So be sure to stay tuned for those perks with the arrival of each new season once NBA 2K24 launches in September.
