2K Sports has officially revealed the NBA 2K24 cover athlete. The new cover art is going to be a huge hit with fans as one of basketball’s most iconic players will be the face of this year’s game.
The NBA 2K24 release date is still yet to be confirmed. However, along with the new cover art, 2K Sports has also confirmed when pre-orders for the game will go live. There are two editions of the game revealed so far, with more information set to follow shortly.
NBA 2K24 cover athlete
The NBA 2K24 cover athlete will be Kobe Bryant. NBA 2K revealed the news on Twitter along with the accompanying message. “Sharing the Mamba Mentality with the next generation. Introducing our NBA 2K24 cover athlete, Kobe Bryant.”
The 18-time All-Star, five-time NBA Champion, two-time Finals MVP, two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, and Hall of Famer will be a popular choice among NBA 2K fans. Kobe Bryant’s confirmation as the cover athlete was not the only news to arrive in the announcement. Fans will be able to pre-order NBA 2K24 from July 7.
Two editions of the game have been revealed. Firstly, the Kobe Bryant edition featuring an action shot of Kobe Bryant wearing his classic no.8 Lakers jersey. The second edition of the game is the Black Mamba edition. Showing off a close up of a sweaty Kobe Bryant, this artwork is intense.
NBA 2K24 Kobe Bryant edition
The NBA 2K24 Kobe Bryant edition will be available for pre-order from July 7. What’s included as part of the pre-order will be confirmed once orders go live. However, we can guess at what it will include by looking at what was on offer in the NBA 2K23 Michael Jordan edition.
The Michael Jordan edition of last year’s game cost $99.99. It also offered plenty of in-game rewards to claim and enjoy.

NBA 2K24 Black Mamba edition
The NBA 2K24 Black Mamba edition will also be available to pre-order when it goes live. We aren’t sure what the equivalent edition of the game will be, but the NBA 2K23 Championship edition looks the most likely.
While the pre-order bonuses were the same for the Championship and Michael Jordan editions of last year’s game, the in-game rewards were notably different. The Championship edition also cost $149.99, so you would expect more bang for your buck.
