Plenty of new game modes abound once the Season 1 update kicks off, and if you’ve been keeping track of the new content that’s set to arrive, you may, at some point, have asked: What is Vortex in MW3? Don’t worry; we’ll cover what you need to know here so you won’t get caught unawares before you jump in.
Of course, the mysteriously named Vortex LTM isn’t the only thing arriving alongside the MW3 Season 1 release date. But if you’re eager to know more about the slightly Zombies-themed mode, keep reading to learn more about what we know beforehand.
What is Vortex in MW3?
Vortex in MW3 is a limited-time mode that will be released as part of Season 1 Reloaded. As mentioned above, this new match offering is slightly Zombies-themed because it will feature one highly popular Wonder Weapon in the Ray Gun. However, not everyone will have the luxury of wielding this weapon of mass destruction because only one player will spawn in with it. Of course, other operators in the server will be tasked with eliminating the Ray Gun holder, and the one who successfully does so will inherit it immediately.
You and several other players can experience this limited-time mode on three remixed multiplayer maps, including Satan’s Quarry, Sporeyard, and Tetanus. Now, before you go and look for it in the game, keep in mind that this won’t be released immediately and will only be launched at a later date, which we’ve covered below.
Vortex will not be a permanent part of the MW3 multiplayer playlist rotation
Since Vortex is only a limited-time mode, it will not be made a permanent part of the MW3 playlist rotation. However, it’s currently unclear when the developers plan on removing it from the game.
When is the Vortex release date in MW3?
We expect the MW3 Vortex limited-time mode to be released in late January / early February 2024 as part of Season 1 Reloaded. Though this has yet to be confirmed by Sledgehammer Games or Activision, this time frame has typically been when previous midseason updates get launched, and that likely won’t change with the latest series entry. However, we will continue to update this page with the latest details once it’s been announced by the CoD development team.
