Although the CoD community hasn’t exactly welcomed Modern Warfare 3 ‘s campaign with open arms, the game’s zombies mode is being enjoyed by many. And while the campaign might seem lackluster, there are interesting parts of the story that will pique your interest such as the MW3 Easter eggs. Like with many Call of Duty games, we know that there’s going to be surprises and hidden details that most players won’t be able to spot immediately.
If you are interested in Easter eggs for Modern Warfare 3, we’ve got the best ones for both the MW3 campaign and zombies mode right here. But we must warn you that if you haven’t played the MW3 campaign yet, you should do that first as this guide contains spoilers. And if you have played the campaign, then stick with us for a while and discover some hidden details throughout the story.
MW3 Campaign Easter Eggs
- Control Farah Khan
- Find the Sledgehammer
- Riley from Call of Duty Ghost
- Price and Ghost dialogue
- Makarov in an Ambulance
- Salute the Mascot
- Don’t take your eyes off Makarov
- Find the two golden weapons
Control Farah Khan
The second mission in the MW3 campaign is called ‘Precious Cargo‘ which will see you take control of Farah and attempt to locate two supply crates that are hidden on board a ship. This is also the first open combat mission you’ll play in the game’s campaign. Unlike other missions where you have a straightforward objective, open combat missions let you take on objectives anyhow you see fit. So if you’ve ever wanted to use Farah in the game, you can enter a vehicle and ram enemies to cause her to say several different dialogue lines throughout the mission.
Find the Sledgehammer
In the same Precious Cargo mission, if you climb some of the containers you will find a sledgehammer on one of the crates. While some players might miss the point, it is most certainly a nod to Sledgehammer Games who developed Modern Warfare 3. You won’t be able to pick up or use the sledgehammer but if you’re a fan of the developer, it might just make you smile.
Riley from Call of Duty Ghost
If you choose to explore the ship in the Precious Cargo mission long enough, you’ll find a dog Bubblehead in the interior of the ship which is Riley from Call of Duty Ghosts (2014). Our four-legged friend also makes an appearance towards the end of the game. During the Trojan Horse mission, you’ll play as Soap who’s following a hacker working for Makarov. To avoid suspicion, you’ll have many opportunities to blend in, including petting a dog – Riley.
The story demands your attention
Pay close attention when playing all of the campaign missions in Modern Warfare 3 especially Flashpoint as it holds the most hidden details in the entire game.
Price and Ghost dialogue
When playing the Reactor mission, I stole an enemy vehicle and after driving around a bit and taking down all the enemies in the area, I threw a C4 on the vehicle to destroy it. As soon as I placed the bomb on the enemy car, an interaction between Ghost and Price takes place. I could hear Ghost asking Price, “What are you working on Price?” And Price responds, “Vehicle maintenance.” I haven’t tried to do this in any other mission but there’s a good chance there are more hidden dialogues to discover.
Makarov in an ambulance
During the Flashpoint campaign mission, as you drive around the stadium car park, you might’ve noticed a familiar face that’s very easy to miss – Makarov. Apparently, even the team drove straight past the ultranationalist who was dressed in blue and standing in the back of an ambulance. This is the same location he was later captured by Price and Soap in the game. However, in the No Russian mission in Modern Warfare 2 (2009), Makarov can be seen standing in another ambulance and in what seems like the same parking lot where he shot Private Allen.
Salute the Mascot
After entering the stadium and taking out the enemies dressed as police officers in Flashpoint mission, Soap can approach the fallen mascot and salute them. It’s unclear why Sledgehammer Games included this in the game but it’s very easy to miss as most players would just walk past the dead mascot.
Don’t take your eyes off Makarov
For the final Flashpoint hidden detail, what simply looks like escorting Makarov to the Exfil site isn’t as easy as it looks. What you’re supposed to do here is get close to Makarov from behind and push him to walk. But if you get ahead and stand in front of the ‘ultimate threat’ long enough, he’ll kill you by stomping your face with his boots.
Find the two golden weapons
When playing the Oligarch mission, there are two golden weapons that you can find and use. The first is the Hybrid Kastov 545 assault AR/LMG which can be found at the garage. The second is the Akimbo .50 GS Pistol/SMG which is located on the second floor of the house. Much like normal weapon camos, these golden weapons do not offer any extra gameplay benefits aside from looking shiny and expensive.
So that’s all the Easter eggs and hidden details we have for you in MW3. As aforesaid, several hidden dialogues in the game are easy to miss, especially among the main Task Force 141 soldiers and popular characters.

- Meet Mister Peeks – Tombstone Soda Can
- Ramp off a bird statue – Speed Cola Can
- Run like never before – Stamina-Up Can
- Deep dive – PHD Flopper Can
- The Old Church – Deadshot Daiquiri Can
- Campfire – Jugger-Nog Can
- Rings of Power – Death Perception Can
- Full speed ahead – Quick Revive Can
- Pay thou respects – Random reward
Meet Mister Peeks
If you take a sniper rifle and climb the top of a construction building, when you aim high at one of the yellow cranes you’ll find a blue rabbit just hanging there. What you have to do here is ping the rabbit accurately and you’ll get a freaky jumpscare that makes all the jumpscares in MW2 Season 6 look like child’s play.
Shortly after a reward rift will appear, providing you with a free Tombstone Soda Can that you can use and save for later.
Ramp off a bird statue
Also if you head to Talanov outpost, you’ll find a gigantic statue that looks like a bird. There’s another spooky rabbit just sitting above the statue who apparently goes by Mister Peeks. So drive towards the statue, go around it and just at the back you’ll find a ramp. Drive your vehicle at a decent speed towards the ramp to go over the bird and get another reward perk. This time you’ll get a Speed Cola Can which gives you a faster reload and faster ammo placement.
Run like never before
So for this next one, you’ll have to climb to the top of a tall building that’s just at the south of Zaravan city as seen on the map. You have to run into the building un-equip one of your weapons and switch to your fists. Now you’ll have to run all the way to the top of the building as fast as possible.
It’s a really tall building and it’s going to take you a while to get to the top and be careful because, to my surprise, there were zombies on the stairways. Once you reach the top, the reward rift will appear and you’ll get a Stamina-Up Can. After collecting your reward you can switch back to your weapons.
Deep dive
Head to the south of Shahin Manor and climb to the top of the beautiful mansion. Getting on top will be quite tricky but you can do it by jumping on a few things and making your way into the house. Once you get to the top, you’ll have to dive into the pool!
Ridiculous, I know! But it’s kind of fun. Once you’re in the water, the rift will appear and reward you with a PHD Flopper Can which triggers an explosive when you die.
The Old Church
This next one requires you to travel to the southeast of Orlov Military Base. It’s quite challenging as it requires precision. So what you need to do here is throw a grenade into a particular window in the old church.
You can do this by standing on one of the gravestones, preferably the one that faces the window directly. So bring out your Semtex Grenade, aim it a bit high and throw! If you get it right, the rift will appear once again and reward you with a Deadshot Daiquiri Can to increase your critical damage.
Campfire
Things are about to get a bit more challenging as this time you’ll have to go into the Tier 2 zone with medium-threat level zombies. So try not to die against those level 2 zombies and be sure to equip a Molotov or simply find one.
You’ll see a little campsite that’s just northeast of the Seaport District where you’ll find Mister Peeks just sitting on an old chair. What you need to do is simply throw a Molotov at the campfire and ignite it. The rift will spawn and reward you with a Jugger-Nog Can to increase your overall health.
Rings of Rower
For this next one, you’ll have to go to a big smokestack that’s just north of Popov Power and climb to the top. Now what you have to do here is a bit of fun but also quite difficult. You’ll have to jump off and try to get through all three rings without touching them. So jump off with your parachute and just maintain your speed and try to get through all of them.
You can get it right on your first attempt but if you don’t, you can always try again. Once done, the rift will appear and reward you with a Death Perception Can that lets you see things through walls and so I dubbed the challenge Rings of Power!
Full speed ahead
This next one requires you to get an ATV vehicle and is located just outside Low Town. So as you drive through the highway, you’ll come across two big signs both of which have Mister Peeks sitting above. Stop your ATV underneath any one of the signs and you should hear a kind of evil laugh that actually means GO! So fire up your ATV and try to get to the next sign as fast as you can.
If you’re too slow, you won’t unlock this reward but if you get it right, the rift will appear and reward you with a Quick Revive Can.
Pay thou respects
For this next one, you’ll have to enter the Red Zone and it’ll be a hard one because the High Threat zombies are simply the worst. So you might want to find a boat instead of driving your way through the Red Zone. Once there, locate a dog house on your map and head to it.
You’ll see the dog house on fire but right next to it there’s a grave and if you go close enough, you can pay respects to something or someone that’s buried underneath. Paying respects will likely downgrade your gun but the rift will appear and reward you with something else. It can be Gold Crystals, Weapon mods or even just a photo of a dog, it’s totally random.
