Borderline is a tense, unique mission in Modern Warfare 2, reminiscent of Modern Warfare’s iconic Clean House segment. Borderline has you climbing the U.S/Mexico border wall, infiltrating a suburban environment, avoiding civilian casualties and searching for a dangerous target.

Modern Warfare 2 – Borderline Walkthrough
Moving away from Gaz and Price in Amsterdam, Borderline introduces you to Colonel Alejandro and Rodolfo, two Mexican special forces agents working with Laswell. Beginning at the US/Mexico border, Alejandro and Rodolfo pursue Major Hassan Zyani across the border in an attempt to apprehend him.
As the mission begins, move away from the boat and through the undergrowth, heading up a ridge towards the border wall. As you approach the wall, you will see Hassan clearing the top, giving you no choice but to pursue him. Turn off your flashlight to avoid detection, then pick off the remaining cartel guards. You have time to line up a headshot on the closest guard, before taking out the others climbing the ladder.
Once the cartel members are taken care of, proceed to the ladder yourself and climb the border wall. Cross over, climb down and proceed forward to begin your pursuit of Hassan.
Follow Alejandro to the wall of a nearby town and quietly move through the gate. When the trailer door opens, de-escalate the civilians to avoid violence, any civilian casualties will send you back to the previous checkpoint.
Move right down the street and approach the house that Alejandro is pointing you towards. Lift the garage door and move forward into the house.
You will need to clear the house to check for Hassan’s presence. Move into the hallway and check the bedrooms as you go. One of the building’s inhabitants will attack you with a baseball bat, but they’re not an agent of Hassan. Back off and de-escalate to be able to proceed. Don’t respond to the attack with violence or you’ll have to repeat this section.

Home Invasions
Leave through the back door and proceed down the alley, taking cover behind the nearby van to avoid an ambush. Alejandro will help take out the car behind you, so focus your fire on the enemies ahead. Pick up their weapons if you need an alternate method of fire – the Bryson 800 shotgun is particularly useful in close quarters – but your silenced pistol is more than enough to do the job.
Move through into the second house and split your attention equally between the two inhabitants while de-escalating to prevent them from pulling a gun. Whenever either of them begins to lower their hands, aim towards them without firing. Keep this up and Alejandro will move in to assist.
Exit the house and move into the street to be confronted by the police. Holster your weapon and step forward. the scene will begin to de-escalate until an explosion kills most of the police, and cartel soldiers move in to mop up the rest.
Take out the cartel members, picking up a Kastov-762 to make the task easier. Several enemies will amass on the roof nearby, but watch out for others that will move in close to you.
With the cartel soldiers defeated, pick up flash grenades in the garage ahead and enter the house proper. Move down the corridor, open the door on the right, then the next door on the right again. Take out the cartel member inside, and then another combatant in the kitchen.
Climb the stairs, shoot the cartel soldier at the top of the landing, and then another in the shower room to the right.
Open the door at the end of the corridor to be ambushed by Hassan, deliver key information to Alejandro, and complete the Borderline mission.
