*UPDATED* Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) Pre Order: Editions, Bonuses and Deals

Activision Blizzard has announced that digital pre-orders of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will be able to play the game’s main campaign a full week early.

There are also a ton of extra pre-order bonuses in Warzone and Vanguard right now too. To get them, all you need to do connect your Steam accounts with your Activision IDs.

As per the Call of Duty Blog, those who put down their money early for either of the game’s digital editions will be able to take advantage. That’s on top of the existing pre-order bonuses for both versions.

MW2 Pre Order and Bonuses

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will be available in at least two editions. The Cross-Gen Bundle and the Vault Edition. The bonuses you’ll get for pre-ordering each have been confirmed as the following.

Cross-Gen Bundle:

• Up to one week early access to the full Modern Warfare 2 Campaign.
• Access to the full game on October 28
• Open Beta Early Access
• Final Judgement Bundle including the Legendary ‘Deathknell’ Operator Skin and Legendary ‘Bloodthirsty’ Weapon Blueprint for use in Vanguard and Warzone.

Vault Edition

Everything in the Cross-Gen Bundle, plus:

• Red Team 141: A bundle of four Multiplayer Operators based on the MW2 squad: Ghost, Farah, Price and Soap. Each is wearing a special masked outfit, and will be playable during the Open Beta.
• FJX Cinder Weapon Vault: It’s currently unclear what this is, except for it being related to MW2’s new Gunsmith system. Activision promise to reveal more during the Call of Duty Next broadcast this September. It’ll also be available during the Open Beta.
• Season One Battle Pass and 50 Tier Skips: (If purchased after Season One, tier skips will apply to whatever season is ongoing.)
• Ghost Legacy Pack: 20 free items relating to the fan favourite character for Modern Warfare (2019) and Warzone, unlocked immediately.
• Khaled Al-Asad Bundle: An Operator bundle, allowing you to play as the CoD 4 villain in Vanguard and Warzone. He also comes with a 20-level Operator XP progression path with more cosmetics to unlock.
• 10 Hours Double XP Tokens, 10 Hours Double Weapon XP Tokens: This perk is exclusive to those who buy through the in-game store on existing Call of Duty titles.

For die-hard Call of Duty fans, the Vault Edition is the way to go – there are a ton of rewards and plenty of extra content to keep multi-player enthusiasts going for some time. For those more interested in the campaign, the cross-gen bundle is probably the best choice – and while you’ll miss out some bonuses, if multiplayer isn’t your focus then it may be the most cost effective choice.

What does pre ordering MW2 get you?

According to Activision, players will get access to one season of the Battle Pass and 50 Tier Skips at launch. If it’s bought after launch, you can apply the free Battle Pass and Tier skips to the current season.

Is MW2 next gen only?

No. Modern Warfare will be on last gen PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as current-gen PS5, Xbox Series and PC. For last-gen versions, expect visuals to take a hit because of the older hardware.
