If you’ve been enjoying Marvel Rivals, chances are you’ve seen certain players earn the SVP and MVP awards. MVP is a widespread phrase used across multiple sports, from the NBA to Italy’s Serie A, but what they don’t have is an SVP.
Whether you’re playing as a Vanguard like Venom, a Duelist in Winter Soldier, or the tricky and illusive Strategy character Cloak and Dagger, you’ll likely earn the SVP award. But, Marvel Rivals never explains what this means. Keep reading to find out what it means and an overview of how it’s earned, alongside a brief explainer on earning the MVP award.
How do you earn MVP in Marvel Rivals, and what does it mean?
The MVP is awarded to the player on the winning team who performed the best during the match. Performance is based on an aggregate of each player’s stats from the match. These include:
- Assists
- Damage dealt
- Deaths
- Healing
- Final hits
- KOs
- Playing the objective
Whoever ranks the best in these will earn the MVP award as long as they are on the winning side. It means you could have the game of your life, but if you lose, you effort won’t get recognised with an MVP award. After all, it’s a team game, and there’s no room for individuals here.
How do you earn SVP, and what does it mean?
SVP means Second Valuable Player in Marvel Rivals and is awarded to the player who performed the best in the above metrics but was on the losing side. In other words, it’s an MVP award for the losing team.
Unlike the MVP, you don’t get the highlighted character cinematic at the end of the match celebrating the achievement; this honour is reserved exclusively for the MVP. Unfortunately, the menus have no way to track MVP or SVP awards. If you go into your stats, there is plenty of information that’s tracked, but MVP and SVP are noticeably absent. Hopefully, it’ll be added later down the line.
