Cloak and Dagger is one of the most challenging heroes in Marvel Rivals, but once you figure out their moves and how best to use them, you will have mastered one of the best Strategists the game has to offer. What makes this character feel so unique is that it’s two characters in one, which you can switch between during matches at the press of the button with no cool down.

While playing, you’ll quickly realise that Dagger is better for healing, but switching to Cloak sets you up to play more offensively, making you feel more like a DPS character than a support. It’s a great balance that offers players the best of both worlds, but it takes some time to get used to, especially considering both Cloak and Dagger have unique moves. Below, we’ve outlined their abilities and some tips and tricks on playing one of the newest additions to the Marvel Rivals roster.

Cloak and Dagger abilities

Like with all characters in Marvel Rivals, Cloak and Dagger has a full suite of abilities. However, what makes them stand out from other Strategists like Jeff the Land Shark and Luna Snow is switching on the fly between the two, meaning you have two complete suites of powers to choose from. It’s a lot to balance and can make even the most seasoned player overwhelmed. Below, we’ve listed their abilities.

As seen above, their moves are very similar, but they do different things, with Cloak being more offensive, while Dagger’s moves offer much more healing potential. One of the most valuable aspects of this character is that each move has an individual cooldown regardless of whether you’re Cloak or Dagger, so you have double the amount of specials that can be used frequently.

How to use Cloak and Dagger in Marvel Rivals

Admittedly, getting used to this character will take some time and plenty of practice to master. When playing as Cloak and Dagger, switching between the two frequently becomes much easier the more you play, eventually becoming second nature and easier to get the most out of two characters. Cloak is the better option if you’re closer to other enemies, while it’s best to use Dagger if you’re far away, thanks to her increased range.

It’s essential to never get too close, especially to enemies who rely on melee, because Cloak and Dagger aren’t as mobile as other Strategists. If you do get caught in a close-quarters fight, you’re going to have to fight your way out using Cloak’s abilities like the Terror Cape or Dark Teleportation to get some breathing room and obscure your opponent’s vision.

To find success with this character, it’s important to avoid getting into one-on-one fights with brawlers like Spider-Man, Iron Fist, and Wolverine, as it’s a complete mismatch. The key is not to be isolated from the rest of your party. However, if you can stick with a tank and keep them alive, you can use Dagger’s Lightforce Dagger to deal damage and heal allies, with the attack even bouncing off of walls, which I found incredibly helpful on narrower maps. This, combined with her other healing abilities, should make you an asset to any team and maybe even earn you the MVP award.
