The hero-shooter genre is increasingly saturated, but Marvel Rivals seems to be here to stay. One of the features that helps it stand out is the team-up combos you can do by using certain characters. By combining these characters, players can unlock new passive and active abilities that offer an edge in 6v6 matches. These combinations maximise each character’s potential and will hopefully help you secure the win. Every team-up has a primary hero and one or more heroes you can partner with to get the extra ability. However, not every character will receive the boost. For example, with the Dimensional Shortcut ability, only half of the partnership will see a benefit. Magik, the primary hero, is unaffected by this team-up, while Psylocke or Black Panther get the ability. Below, we’ve outlined all of the possible combinations and how they all work.
All team-up combos in Marvel Rivals
There are currently 15 possible team-ups in Marvel Rivals. You must combine at least three characters to get a team-up to work, but in some cases, you can have more, which we’ve specified below. Sometimes, they work passively, while in other cases, you need to activate certain abilities. All inputs for the different moves appear in the bottom right of the screen.
Team-Up name | Primary hero | Secondary hero |
---|---|---|
Metallic Chaos | Scarlet Witch | Magneto |
Symbiote Bond | Venom | Spider-Man / Peni Parker |
Gamma Charge | Hulk | Doctor Strange / Iron Man |
Ammo Overload | Rocket Raccoon | The Punisher / Winter Soldier |
Dimensional Shortcut | Magik | Black Panther / Psylocke |
Guardian Revival | Adam Warlock | Star-Lord / Mantis |
Planet X Pals | Groot | Rocket Raccoon / Jeff the Land Shark |
Chilling Charisma | Luna Snow | Namor / Jeff the Land Shark |
Fastball Special | Hulk | Wolverine |
Ragnarok Rebirth | Hela | Loki / Thor |
Voltaic Union | Thor | Storm / Captain America |
Allied Agents | Hawkeye | Black Widow |
Atlas Bond | Iron Fist | Luna Snow |
ESU Alumnus | Spider-Man | Squirrel Girl |
Lunar Force | Cloak & Dagger | Moon Knight |
Metallic Chaos
- Team-up heroes – Magneto with Scarlet Witch
- Magneto – Metallic Fusion
- Scarlet Witch – Chaotic Bond (passive)
- Effect – Scarlet Witch can infuse Chaos Energy into Magneto to enchant his greatsword. Upon receiving Chaos Energy, Magneto can unleash its full force, striking down enemies with his enchanted greatsword.
Metallic Chaos lets Scarlet Witch passively boost Magneto’s damage output when using his C ability. The neat part is that she doesn’t have to do anything to get this combo to work, while Magneto turns from the usual Vanguard hero into a much more potent brawler.

Symbiote Bond
- Team-up heroes – Venom with Spiderman / Peni Parker
- Venom – Touch of Klyntar (passive)
- Spider-Man – Suit Expulsion
- Peni Parker – Armor Expulsion
- Effect – Venom shares a part of his symbiotes with Spider-Man and Peni Parker, activating their symbiote abilities. Spider-Man and Peni Parker can convert the symbiotes into explosive spikes that inflict harm on nearby enemies and relentlessly drive them back.
Symbiote Bond helps both Spider-Man and Peni Parker to better control the battlefield, thanks to Venom’s passive. It turns their C ability into a thorns-like effect with the added benefit of having knockback. You can use it to press the advantage and create space for your team, or similarly, to push back enemies and escape from a nasty situation.
Gamma Charge
- Team-up heroes – Hulk with Doctor Strange/Iron Man
- Bruce Banner – Gamma Boost (passive)
- Doctor Strange – Gamma Maelstrom
- Iron Man – Gamma Overdrive
- Effect – Hulk charges Doctor Strange and Iron Man with gamma radiation. When Doctor Strange uses Maelstrom of Madness, he unleashes excess gamma energy. When Iron Man uses Armor Overdrive, he will initiate a gamma upgrade.
The mere presence of Bruce Banner as The Hulk activates the Gamma Charge combo for Doctor Strange and Iron Man, boosting their E abilities. Doctor Strange’s DPS gains a substantial boost when using Maelstrom of Madness, which is already a potent AoE skill. Meanwhile, Iron Man’s Overdrive becomes more powerful, boosting the effects considerably.
Ammo Overload
- Team-up heroes – Rocket Raccoon with The Punisher/Winter Soldier
- The Punisher/Winter Soldier – Infinite Punishment/Grit (passive)
- Rocket Raccoon – Ammo Invention
- Effect – Rocket Raccoon throws an Ammo Overload Device in the target direction. Upon entering the device’s range, The Punisher or the Winter Soldier receive buffs of Infinite Ammo and Faster Firing
Sweet and simple, Ammo Overload is an amazing combo for The Punisher. Rocket Raccoon’s device is already a great boost for anyone, but Frank Castle and Bucky take it to the next level. With both of their weapons boosted, he becomes a killing machine with infinite ammo and faster firing.
Dimensional Shortcut

- Team-up heroes – Magik with Black Panther/Psylocke
- Black Panther – Wakandan Master
- Psylocke – Psionic Disc
- Magik – No effect
- Effect – Psylocke and Black Panther can activate a Limbo Disc and use the portal travelling back in time
Dimensional Shortcut is a simple and effective tool for Psylocke and Black Panther to get around the battlefield. It’s a good mobility tool, especially since both can suffer from being stuck when their abilities are on cooldown. This way, they can open a portal to go back in time and replenish some of their health in the process.
Guardian Revival

- Team-up heroes – Adam Warlock with Star-Lord/Mantis
- Adam Warlock – Soul Perseverance (passive)
- Star-Lord – Leader’s Soul (passive)
- Mantis – Nature’s Soul (passive)
- Effect – Adam Warlock enhances the rebirth power of Star-Lord and Mantis, granting them the power of cocooned revival.
Guardian Revival is a passive team-up for everyone involved, requiring only that Adam Warlock be alive for its effect to take place. On being taken down, Star-Lord or Mantis will be enveloped in a bright cocoon for a few seconds, before getting resurrected to get back into the fight. This ability can easily turn the tide of a fight, so if you’re playing Adam, you should play safely to let the ability trigger in case your allies fall.
Planet X Pals
- Team-up heroes – Groot with Rocket Raccoon/Jeff the Land Shark
- Groot – Friendly Shoulder
- Rocket Raccoon – Old Friends
- Jeff the Land Shark – New Friends
- Effect – Rocket Raccoon and Jeff the Land Shark can ride on Groot’s shoulders, receiving Damage Reduction.
Just like in the comics and movies, this inseparable duo can team up to become stronger together. With Groot filling the Vanguard role as a tank character, he can let Rocket hop on by pressing C, protecting the Strategist, aka support, and granting him some extra damage reduction as well as a nice tall vantage point. In a similar fashion, Groot can lend his support to protect Jeff, giving the healer some much-needed damage reduction.
Chilling Charisma
- Team-up heroes – Luna Snow with Namor/Jeff the Land Shark
- Luna Snow – Icy Disco (passive)
- Namor – Frozen Spawn
- Jeff the Land Shark – Frozen Spitball
- Effect – Luna Snow infuses ice energy into Namor and Jeff the Land Shark, who then can tap into the ice energy to power up abilities at will.
With the Chilling Charisma team-up, Luna Snow can passively grant Namor a new C key ability and Jeff the Land Shark an X key ability. For Namor, it works similarly to his E, summoning an octopus to turret any enemies in range. However, this is a boosted version with ice powers added, dealing more damage and applying a slow effect. Meanwhile, Jeff’s X provides a stronger ranged option than his default right-click offers.
Ragnarok Rebirth
- Team-up heroes – Hela with Hela/Thor
- Hela – Queen of Hel (passive)
- Loki – Laufeyson Reborn (passive)
- Thor – Odinson Reborn (passive)
- Effect – When Hela lands a final hit in defeating an enemy, she can instantly resurrect Loki in the respawn phase, or grant bonus health if still alive.
At best, Ragnarok Rebirth is a situational combo, allowing Hela to boost Loki’s and Thor’s return after she kills an enemy or otherwise increase their health pool. If Loki or Thor is waiting for respawn, proccing this team-up immediately lets them return to battle, removing the respawn timer completely. Otherwise, she can grant the trickster and thunder god a health boost, increasing their durability.
Voltaic Union
- Team-up heroes – Thor with Storm/Captain America
- Thor – Thunderous Deity (passive)
- Storm – Charged Gale
- Captain America – Charged Aegis (passive)
- Effect – Thor infuses Thorforce into Storm, granting her an electrifying enhancement. With an electrifying enhancement, Storm can unleash a lightning barrage while Cap’s shield is charged with thunder, and he moves quicker
Thor passively builds up Thorforce stacks to use with his abilities. With the Voltaic Union team-up, he can instead passively infuse Storm and let her use them to power up her Charged Gale ability. That turns an already potent AoE power into a literal barrage of storm and lightning energy, dealing much more damage in the process. Cap gains a movement boost, and his shield is not imbued with thunder power.
Lunar Force
- Team-up heroes – Cloak & Dagger with Moon Knight
- Cloak & Dagger – No effect
- Moon Knight – Full Moon
- Effect – Cloak & Dagger inject energy into Moon Knight, which allows him to become invisible
Moon Knight is already one of the best characters to use in the game with plenty of different moves. If Cloak & Dagger are playing, then he gains the added ability to turn invisible, allowing him to skulk around the battlefield even more stealthily.
Allied Agents
- Team-up heroes – Hawkeye and Black Widow
- Hawkeye – No effect
- Black Widow – Supersensory Hunt
- Effect – Hawkeye lends Black Widow his sight so she can now see the shadows enemies leave behind and damage them this way
Despite not impacting Hawkeye, this ability elevates one of the best long-range characters Marvel Rivals has to offer, allowing Black Widow to be even more deadly with improved vision and making her capable of shooting shadows.
Atlas Bond
- Team-up heroes – Iron Fist and Luna Snow
- Iron Fist – No effect
- Luna Snow – Frozen Chi
- Effect – Luna Snow can radiate an ice shockwave that’s been charged with Chi, knocking back enemies and slowing them down in the process
This is another team-up that only affects half of the players involved. But, it does offer Luna Snow a devastating new attack that knocks back opponents and heals allies nearby in one quick movement.
ESU Alumnus
- Team-up heroes – Spider-Man and Squirrel Girl
- Spider-Man – No effect
- Squirrel Girl – Webbed Acorn
- Effect – Spider-Man charges up Squirrel Girl’s bomb with webs so it now immobilises enemies
Webbed Acorn enables Squirrel Girl to stop enemy players in their tracks, with it having a healthy blast radius that will slow down multiple targets at once by wrapping them up in Spider-Man’s webs.
Fastball Special
- Team-up heroes – Hulk and Wolverine
- Hulk – Gamma Fastball
- Wolverine – Fastball Special
- Effect – The Hulk picks up Wolverine, launching him great distances so Wolverine can get into the action quickly
Any fan of the comics will recognise this move that’s usually performed by Wolverine and Colossus. But, in his place here is the Hulk, who can throw Wolverine once both players engage in the move, enabling Wolverine to attack enemies far away, causing plenty of damage on impact.
