Squirrel Girl is one of the more niche picks to appear in the Marvel Rivals roster, but she’s an excellent pick for anyone who wants to try out a Duelist (DPS) character. She’s one of the more approachable characters on offer and is easy enough to pick up immediately. However, like all characters, she can be devastating once mastered.
She also has a team-up with Spider-Man, so when you’re building teams and getting ready to jump into matches, this is something to keep in mind if you plan on using one of the youngest Avengers. We will outline her abilities and highlight some of the best ways to use Squirrel Girl and some of the situations you might want to avoid with this character.
Squirrel Girl abilities
Her move-set focuses on remaining at a distance and shooting bouncing acorn bombs that explode on impact. These are handy when enemies are grouped up or choked down narrow areas on specific maps. If you dabbled with Overwatch, then it’s very easy to draw comparisons with Junkrat, as she has a similar kit. In the table below, you can see her full suite of abilities and what they do:

Mammal Bond | Reload Burst Acorns and re-use an ability without a cooldown |
Squirrel Blockade | Launch an acorn to unleash Squirrel Guards that will freeze an enemy in place on impact |
Unbeatable Squirrel Tsunami | Summon a horde of squirrels that scurry forward across the ground, bouncing off of structures and dealing damage to enemies on impact |
Squirrel Girl doesn’t have the most complicated move-set and, according to the game, only has a one-star difficulty rating. But, that doesn’t mean she can’t be one of the best characters on the battlefield.
How to use Squirrel Girl in Marvel Rivals
What makes Squirrel Girl so effective is knowing when to press and who to focus on. Thanks to her decent range, you can easily hit support characters on the backline and whittle away at Vanguards (tanks) effectively as long as you can keep your distance.
It’s best to be careful about being cornered by melee characters because close-up Squirrel Girl is incredibly ineffective, but fortunately, you can use Tail Bounce to get you out of a jam quickly. If you need to get even more distance, pairing this with Mammal Bond will give you an extra charge to get even further away, and the Squirrel Blockade can freeze an opponent for a few seconds so you can get make a swift escape.
The key here for both her regular attacks and her Ultimate ability is to ensure you attack when enemies are grouped. That way you hit as many of them as possible to take advantage of how they bounce off the environment to get to hard-to-reach places. You can even use this ability to destroy sections of the map, shaping it to how you want it to be, suiting you even more.
