Marvel Rivals has been excellent since its launch at the end of 2024, and Season 1 has been superb with the additions of Mr Fantastic and the Invisible Woman. There are lots of exciting new characters leaked for the future, but very soon we are getting the remaining two members of the Fantastic Four. Here you will find the Marvel Rivals mid-season 1 update release date for The Thing, Human Torch, and NetEase’s new map, and you will also find other important details about the mid-season update.
Marvel Rivals mid-season 1 update release date
The release date for the Marvel Rivals mid-season 1 update is February 21st. This has been confirmed by NetEase in their dev diaries.
This is the release date for when The Thing and the Human Torch will join the game to complete the Fantastic Four after Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman joined at the start of Season 1 in January.
Per the Marvel Rivals 2025 roadmap, Season 2 is scheduled to start in April. The intent from NetEase is for each chapter to “last about three months,” but there’s always the possibility plans change, or season launches get delayed.
Marvel Rivals Human Torch abilities
Below are the leaked abilities for the Human Torch as a Duelist in Marvel Rivals:
Fire Cluster (Left Click):
- Launch forward a spittable fireball.
Supernova (Ultimate) (Q):
- Unleash shockwaves to deal damage to enemies within range. During skill activation, the flame field will transform into a flame tornado.
Plasma Body (LShift):
- Hold LSHIFT to enter a state of accelerated ascent.
Pyro Prison (E):
- Connect flame fields to form a fire wall that deals burning damage to enemies.
Flaming Meteor (F):
- Dive towards the ground and stun nearby enemies.
Blazing Blast (Right Mouse Click):
- Launch a fireball to create a flame field at the targeted area
Omega Fire (Team-up Ability) (Passive):
- Storm can consume one of Human Torch’s fire tornadoes into her ultimate to ignite her hurricane. Likewise, Human Torch can turn Storm’s hurricane into a fiery hurricane with his ultimate, which will then enlarge and intensify any of his fire tornadoes caught in its path.
Once the Marvel Rivals mid-season 1 update has arrived, players will be able to unlock the free Blood Blaze skin for The Human Torch.
The Thing leaked abilities
Below are descriptions of leaked abilities for The Thing as a Vanguard courtesy of RivalsLeaks on X:
Solid as a Rock (Passive):
- Immune to enemy knockback, knockback, and other displacement effects.
Combination Punch (Primary fire):
- Quick and continuous punches.
Thunderbolt Punch (Secondary fire):
- Deliver a devastating punch.
Furious Charge:
- Continuously charge forward, lifting up enemies in your path, leaving behind a seismic zone that prohibits displacement.
Battlefield Support:
- Jumps towards teammates and adds damage reduction to them and yourself.
Slam Moment (Ultimate ability):
- Uses tremendous force to knock all enemies in front of you into the air.
Players will be able to get a Blood Blaze skin for The Thing, too, when the mid-season 1 update launches.
Marvel Rivals mid-season 1 update new map
The new map that will arrive with the Marvel Rivals mid-season 1 update is Central Park. This comes after Midtown was added at the very beginning of NetEase’s first chapter.
While the arrival of Central Park is exciting, leaks have possibly revealed two new maps to expect for Season 2. These are reportedly “Klyntar: The Celestial’s Remains,” and “Klyntar: Core”.
This seems to suggest that NetEase will follow Season 1’s narrative-focus on vampires by switching to something involving symbiotes for S2.
Does Marvel Rivals mid-season 1 update rank reset?
Some fantastic news is that the Marvel Rivals mid-season 1 update will not rank reset. This was originally the intention from NetEase, but they have changed course thanks to feedback from the community.
Per NetEase’s dev diary, “When the second half of the season begins, there will be no rank reset”. This means “Players will retain their ranks and scores from the end of the first half”.
NetEase added that “To earn new rewards, players simply need to complete 10 matches in Competitive mode and meet the relevant conditions by the end of the season. Rewards will include a new Gold rank costume and a variety of Crests of Honor, featuring distinct designs for Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All”.
