Where to find each wood type in Lightyear Frontier
If you want to get normal wood, you can gather it from any tree in the starting area using your Spike Saw. Softwood, on the other hand, can be found in Pine Heights to the west of The Meadows. If you are looking for Hardwood, you can find this material in the Yellow Forest region.
How to get wood in Lightyear Frontier
To get regular wood in Lightyear Frontier, you need to harvest green trees and yellow trees. These trees are bountiful in the starting area of The Meadows and can also be found around the Yellow Forest and even Pine Heights. Almost every location has this material, making it easy to come by.
The best way to gather wood from trees is to use the Spike Saw. When harvesting from individual trees, it is faster to use the spike function of this tool. The saw function is better for hitting multiple trees at once. You can also upgrade your saw on your mech for future types of wood.
How to get Softwood in Lightyear Frontier
Softwood is another type of wood that you will eventually need for crafts in Lightyear Frontier. To get this resource, head west of The Meadows to Pine Heights. Larger trees in this area will drop you Softwood when chopped down. Pine trees in the area will get you Pine Seeds and more wood as well.
Despite there being noxious slime in this area, you do not need to restore the Pine Heights region to get softwood. While restoring the area is needed for other materials, softwood is not one of them.

How to get Hardwood in Lightyear Frontier
Finally, you can gather Hardwood in Lightyear Frontier in the Yellow Forest. This is the area to the east of The Meadow and the area with the most Yellow Trees. You can also find other resources like Polyberries and Colorflowers in this area.

Best Way to farm wood in Lightyear Frontier
Each of these types of wood can be farmed. The best way to do this is to plant the saplings of trees that you cut down near your Homestead. This will give you a reliable source of softwood and hardwood and make it so you don’t need to go very far to get these materials. Of course, you will need to collect a lot of saplings so you can plant a small forest for this resource. If you end up with too much wood, you can always sell your excess to the merchant when they arrive.
