Perhaps you have seen the beautifully shaded pinkish-orange vegetable called Caroot in Lightyear Frontier. This basic vegetable is one that you will need earlier on if you want any hope of progressing in the game. Luckily, it shouldn’t take you long to get Caroots and Caroot Oil in Lightyear Frontier.
Getting Caroots in Lightyear Frontier
To get Caroots, go to the Edge Cliffs region to the south of The Meadows. Once there, remove all of the Noxious Weeds to restore the region. Rest one night and return to the region to find Caroots growing in the area. Use your vacuum to pull them from the ground and see the seeds to your inventory. Use the seeds to grow Caroots at your homestead.
Where to find Caroots in Lightyear Frontier
To find Caroots in Lightyear Frontier, you need to make your way south of The Meadows to the Edge Cliffs region. Caroots are plentiful in this region. Before you can get them, however, you will need to restore this area by removing all of the weeds with your vacuum. This is similar to how you restore the Pine Heights region. Once that’s done, rest at least one night and Caroots will start growing in the region.
Now that Caroots are growing, return to Edge Cliffs and use your Vacuum Harvester on the plants with the pinkish stalks coming off of them. This will get you Caroot Seeds. You shouldn’t need any mech upgrades to get the seeds.

With the Caroot Seeds in your inventory, you can use your Seed Shooter to plant the seeds in a plant bed. Once you’ve done this, you can get Caroots from the travelling merchant.
How to get Caroot Oil in Lightyear Frontier
Now that you have your own vegetables, use the Spike Saw to harvest them. Take the Caroots over to the Oil Presser and chuck them in to make Caroot Oil. This is similar to how you get other resources and is fairly simple. If you need to get oil faster, you can build more Oil Pressers around your camp. If you put the machines in a workshop shed, you have the chance to get multiple bottles of oil each time you craft one.

Can Caroots be found in other biomes?
Yes, you can find this vegetable in other biomes but they appear to be most plentiful in Edge Cliffs.
Why can’t I make Caroot Oil in Lightyear Frontier?
You need to have Caroots in your inventory. If you only have the seeds, you won’t be able to make the oil.
