Space Marine 2 features a relatively complex health system that does away with the typical automatic health regeneration you’d expect from similar games. Those Tyranids pack a voracious punch, so it’s crucial to get on top of it if you plan on making the Ultramarines proud.

Going down is a problem for your Battle-Brothers, whether they are AI or real players. It’s manageable on lower difficulties, but on tougher settings proper health management is key to success. We’ll walk you through how to heal in Space Marine 2.

Space Marine 2 Health and Armor explained

Health in Space Marine 2 depends on two factors: a red bar that indicates Titus’ health and a white bar representing armor. They work independently from one another and regenerate in different ways. The Health bar doesn’t regenerate automatically, while the Armor does both in and out of combat, including after Gun Strikes and Executes. When in combat, any damage sustained first depletes the Armor bar, but once that’s empty, damage eats into the Health bar. Once the Health bar depletes completely, Titus dies.

How to recover Health

There are several ways to heal:

  1. Stimms
  2. Dealing damage to recoup Contested Health
  3. Activating Titus’ Righteous Fury ability
  4. Teammate revives

You’ll find Medicae Stimms located at various points in missions. These are consumable that restore roughly 60% of your red Health bar. You can carry up to two Stimms at a time. Stimms spawns in set locations in Campaign missions, allowing you to chart their locations for any future replays on hard difficulties.

Whenever you sustain damage to your red Health Bar, you’ll see a receding white bar appear known as Contested Health. It indicates how much damage you’ve received but also what you can recover. If you deal damage before the white bar disappears, you’ll gradually restore HP equivalent to the remaining size of the bar. Execute and finishers are particularly effective at restoring large chunks of health. You can abuse this mechanics by playing from cover and taking shots at the easy-to-kill hordes or swarms of enemies to replenish health.

Another way to heal is to use Titus’s Righteous Fury ability. When triggered, Righteous Fury boosts Titus’ damage and defense, but also replenishes health. It’s a safety net that’s particularly useful against tough enemies like Elites or massive swarms as it allows for a more aggressive playstyle.

Lastly, if the worse does happen and you fall in combat, a teammate can swoop in to revive you, replenishing a meaty chunk of health in the process. It’s not ideal, but gives you a second wind if the Tyranids do get the upper hand.

✓ Tip

Using an Instant Revive after dying replenishes only white bar health, so you’ll need to deal damage fast to ensure you recoup a decent chunk of HP. You can use this tactically by deliberately dying, reviving, then killing a horde to get HP back.
