Fortnite’s latest Chapter 6 Season 1 update v33.20, added a thrilling crossover with the iconic kaiju Godzilla, bringing the King of the Monsters to the Battle Royale scene. This update not only adds Godzilla as a wandering NPC boss, but it also includes a number of themed challenges and rewards.

Players can complete Godzilla quests on the Chapter 6 Season 1 map, which has undergone considerable changes to suit the beast’s presence, including the destruction of the Shattered Span POI. Along with Godzilla, the update teases two more renowned Monsterverse figures: King Kong and Mechagodzilla. Both characters will join the fray, each with their own skin and cosmetics.

While there is a Godzilla skin that players can claim in their Battle Pass, a new feature is also added that allows players to become Godzilla and wreak havoc on the island as a giant kaiju. Here’s how to do that in Chapter 6 Season 1.

How to transform into Godzilla in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1

To transform into Godzilla, you’ll need to load into a Fortnite Battle Royale or a Zero Build game starting January 17, since the update is only available in Chapter 6 Season 1. Then during the match, a portal will appear at a random location on the map.

The first player to find and jump through the portal will emerge as the colossal titan, Godzilla as a giant-sized boss. You’ll see a portal icon appear in front of you and on the mini-map, just like the Shogun Rift Island, so it’s best you make your way as quickly as possible to the portal since it’s going to be heavily contested. But keep in mind that only one player can become Godzilla when the portal spawns in a Battle Royale match. Once you transform into Godzilla, you’ll have insane amounts of health and you’ll also gain some special abilities to truly embody the monster within.

All Godzilla abilities in Fortnite

As Godzilla, you will have three key abilities in a Fortnite Battle Royale match. They are Roar, Mighty Stomp Attack, and Heat Ray. Here’s what each ability does in the game:

  • Godzilla Roar ability – Use this ability to reveal nearby players as it marks them around you, just like a Recon Scanner would.
  • Mighty Stomp Attack – Stomp on the ground and smash other players who come in your way. This melee attack inflicts heavy damage on a certain area.
  • Heat Ray – Unleash a pink Heat Ray from Godzilla’s mouth and damage enemies in its path.

But beware, don’t leave yourself vulnerable in front of a lot of enemy players as they can still team up to take you down. You’ll have your weak spots exposed from time to time and players can shoot it to deal extra damage. Furthermore, they’ll be able to knock off Godzilla’s Fragments which will give them 40 Health and 3 dash charges.

However, if you find your enemies using a Rail Gun or Shield Bubble, it’s best to beam them with a Heat-Ray. Furthermore, any player who deals the most damage to Godzilla will be rewarded with the Godzilla Medallion, which gives a recharging dash ability (up to three charges at a time), as well as the exotic Burst Quad Launcher. Leaks have also suggested that a giant Kong will also spawn on the island during the Battle Royale match. So it’s safe to say that as Godzilla you only have one job – lay waste to whoever comes your way.
