The Raiden Shogun is one of the most powerful characters in the game at the moment, not only in gameplay but in lore as well. It is no surprise that a battle with her would be an extremely difficult one. However, with knowledge of her attacks and the optimum team compositions, victory against her is definitely possible. After beating the Raiden Shogun’s Story Quest “Imperatrix Umbrosa Chapter: Act II – Transient Dreams” you will unlock the End of the Oneiric Euthymia, a Trounce Domain. Trounce Domains contain bosses that can be fought once a week to gather rewards and materials required to level up character’s skills. In this Trounce Domain, the Raiden Shogun puppet has considered our characters as obstacles to eternity and as such, turns her blade against us.

The Shogun is a formidable foe as she was given form with an incredibly durable body
Not only that, but in the middle of the fight she will take the form of Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto. An incredible force of Electro set on attaining “Eternity”. The Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto is ready to cut down all that would stand in her way, even her own creator.
Team Composition
Ideally, you would want to bring a Cryo or Dendro character with you. When the Raiden transforms into her second form, she will gain an Electro shield making her resistant to most attacks. Using Cryo or Dendro on that shield will chip away at it incredibly faster than any other attacks.

One requirement for this battle is any Electro character. They will be necessary to counter one of the Shogun’s moves later that will kill all characters on the field if it is not stopped.
And lastly, you would want a healer on your team. It does not matter what element they have, as long as they can provide you with healing for this arduous battle.

Shogun Ominous Destiny
Throughout this fight, the Shogun will have a bar that will slowly fill up called Ominous Destiny. It has a maximum amount of 900. She will passively accumulate 20 Ominous Destiny every 2 seconds and she also gains 40 Ominous Destiny every time she hits a player character.

Once she’s acquired enough Ominous Destiny, she will transform into the Baleful Shadowlord form.
While she is in this form, characters on the field will lose energy at set intervals. She will also become more formidable as she gains resistance against damage and will have access to an array of lethal attacks.
The main weakness of this form is that she will have a form of Electro shield, which can be easily taken down by hitting her with Cryo or Dendro attacks. Attacking her will also grant characters on the field with some energy.

With all of that information out of the way, we can now discuss her attacks and how to avoid them
Shogun Regular Form (Phase 1)
Melee attacks
The Shogun will have many melee combos. She can also change her weapon from a polearm to a sword. During the first phase, all of the Raiden Shogun’s melee attacks will have a small windup. She will unleash these attacks once her weapon flashes a quick white glow.
When you see this white flash, you must dash away from her to dodge her incoming attack.
Long range attacks
Running too far from the Shogun may lead her to throw Electro projectiles at you. These will be three quick discs followed by a slower horizontal wave.
The Shogun is also capable of teleporting close to your character if you get too far away.

Magatsu Electroculi
Sometimes, she will summon a Magatsu Electroculi at the center of the arena. If left alone, it will detonate and deal Electro damage around the area. However, if you destroy it with your attacks, it will leave the Shogun stunned for a small duration.
Electro Illusions
The Shogun has another attack where she creates a portal and splits into four Electro illusions of herself, with the real one hiding among them. The clones will periodically launch lightning blades at the character, while the real one will launch two blades in a cross pattern. Attacking and uncovering the real Shogun will leave her weakened and stunned for a short duration.

Electro Guard
Similar to another weekly boss, Childe, the Raiden Shogun can sometimes stop attacking and raise her guard. During this time, you can freely attack her. Doing enough damage during this small window can stagger her and let you deal some free damage.

Baleful Shadow Lord Form (Phase 2)
The Baleful Shadow Lord Form will cause nearby characters to lose energy over time. Her resistances will also greatly increase due to her Electro shield, making attacks deal very little damage to her. While this shield will deplete over time, you can destroy it faster with the use of Cryo and Dendro elements.
Sword Slash
The Shogun will charge up their sword. Similar to phase 1, there will be a white flash preceding this attack. You can use that to time your dodge to it.
Floating Hands
An attack reminiscent of the Maguu Kenki’s exploding masks, a pair of hands will surround the player. The palms will briefly flash before the attack, which can be used to time your dodge.
Downward Slam
The Raiden Shogun will slowly lift her sword in the air. She will then proceed to slam it down in a large rectangular area in front of her. To escape this, dash towards her until you reach her back. Not only will you be out of range of her attack, but you can use this brief moment to get some hits in.

Destructive Waves
Typically during the end of her Baleful Shadowlord Form, the Shogun will summon three Electro pillars around the center of the field. These pillars will unleash waves of Electro energy that you can dodge either by jumping over them or by running to the edge of the arena. If you have a strong enough healer or shielder, you can also just ignore them and keep attacking the Shogun.

Projectiles
Similar to her projectiles in phase 1, the shogun will unleash vertical waves in a cone in front of her and then a slower horizontal wave after that. Simply move in between the vertical waves to not get hit by them and then dash away from the horizontal wave.

Instakill
This is the most lethal attack in her arsenal. The Raiden Shogun absorbs all of your character’s energy and disappears. A small orb will appear in the center of the arena called a “Flower of Remembrance”. Destroying this orb will create a spherical shield at the center of the arena.

After a few seconds, the Shogun will unleash a horizontal slash across the screen. Those outside or not protected by the spherical shield will be instantly knocked out. Electro attacks are the most effective at destroying the orb, other attacks deal decreased damage to it and may not make it in time before the Shogun attacks.
Once the Baleful Shadow Lord ends, the Shogun will be left weakened and open for attacks. This will then repeat the cycle of accumulating more Ominous Destiny to turn back into her more powerful form. Continue dealing damage to her when given the chance and you will eventually take her down!
