Hogwarts Legacy gives players no less than 34 different spells. Bombarda is one of the last spells learned by players in Hogwarts Legacy, but it packs a real combat punch with an explosion of heavy damage that can take out enemies and even seemingly impassable obstacles.
In this guide, we’ll explain how to get and cast Bombarda in Hogwarts Legacy.

How to Get Bombarda in Hogwarts Legacy
The Bombarda spell unlocks during Professor Howin’s Assignment side quest. After rescuing a Giant Purple Toad and Diricawl from dens throughout The Highlands around Hogwarts, head back to the Beasts classroom in the Bell Tower Wing of Hogwarts.
Attend the class, and near the end, Professor Howin will teach you how to cast Bombarda in Hogwarts Legacy. Guide the cursor along the path, hitting the prompts as you go – by now, this will all be very familiar. You can practice the spell on the pumpkins scattered around the courtyard to test Bombarda’s explosive damage.
How to Cast Bombarda
Bombarda is cast like most combat spells in Hogwarts Legacy:
- First, assign it to a spell set slot (On PS5 – tap right on D-pad to bring up the spell menu, hover over Bombarda, then tap the button you want to assign it to).
- To cast Bombarda on PS5, hold down R2, then press the corresponding button on your spell set (for example, square or circle, depending on where you assigned it).
For the most damage, you’ll want to cast Bombarda on tightly positioned groups of enemies for the best results or target explosive barrels. You can also cast it on stone obstacles to reach hidden rooms and loot.
