After the initial credits roll, it can feel like Kratos and Atreus’ adventure is wrapped up for good. But before long a new favor pings up on-screen – After Ragnarok – urging you to get back out there and explore. And, we couldn’t agree more – God of War Ragnarok is stacked to the rafters with post-game adventures, optional encounters, collectibles, secret areas, and goodies. If you need a nudge in the right direction, we’re here to help with a list of what to do post-game in God of War Ragnarok.
At this point, it’s worth beaming out a spoiler warning: we’re talking about the post-game, so tread carefully if you’ve yet to complete the story.
Visit Ratatoskr at Sindri’s House
Having a chat with Ratatoskr not only provides some extra lore nuggets to sink your teeth into, but the talkative squirrel will also gift you a set of Yggdrasil seeds. You can use these to unlock mystic gateways to previously inaccessible realms and areas – Jotunheim, the Mist Field in Niflheim, and Sanctuary Grove in Midgard. Each of these areas include collectibles needed to 100% each realm, so are well worth a visit.

Get the Steinbjorn armor set
The Steinbjorn armor set is widely considered as one of the best, granting a health burst whenever Kratos takes a significant chunk of damage alongside having the best defense stats in the game. To get the armor set, you’ll need to track down the Mystical Heirloom in Midgard, then set off on a multi-realm-spanning troll hunt to gather the necessary resources to graft the armor set.
Visit the pub in Nidavellir, Svartalfheim
After completing the game, you’ll hear mention of a gathering to commemorate Brok. Head to the pub in Nidavellir Svartalfheim, located in the house you first met Raeb, the dwarven bard. This will trigger A Viking Funeral favor, taking you to Sverd Sands in Svartalfheim for a touching send off for the foul-mouthed, but ever-endearing blacksmith. Completing the quest also triggers the proper final credits and is considered the true ending.
Complete all Favors and Artifact Collections

Take on the Berserker Gravestone bosses
The Berserker Gravestones scattered across the Nine Realms offer some of the toughest fights in God of War Ragnarok. If you’ve put these off due to how challenging they are, revisiting in the post-game is well worth it. After completing all the gravestones head back to King’s Grave in northeast Midgard, for one final, epic fight.
Fight Gna in Muspelheim
If the Berserkers haven’t satisfied your appetite for combat, then head to The Crucible in Muspelheim. Jump down into the trial pit ahead of the shop near the mystic gateway. On the right of the arena is a new crawl space. Head through then grapple across to find Gna the Valkyrie. It’s arguably the toughest boss encounter in the game, especially at higher difficulties, delivering a real sense of achievement once you’ve struck her down.
Talk to NPCs
Illustrative of Santa Monica Studio’s efforts to craft a deep and engaging world, it’s not just Kratos, Atreus, and Freya who’ve been touched by the events the main story quest. Revisiting old friends, provides fresh new snippets of dialogue that are well worth your time. Though we’re wary about revealing too much, here are a few locations worth visiting post-game:
- The Canyons, Alfheim
- The Derelict Outpost, Midgard
- Sanctuary Grove, Midgard
- Angrboda’s Treehouse, Jotunheim
- Freyr’s Camp, Vanaheim
- Sindri’s House
Kill All of Odin’s Ravens
Odin may be dead, but his ravens still survey the land. Though there’s satisfaction to be had in killing all 48, doing so also unlocks a two-phase boss fight in Niflheim starring the Raven Keeper and The Pale One. You also get access to a complete armor set courtesy of the unlocked chests at the Tree of Woe, too.
Complete the Broken Prison in Niflheim
The fruit of Ragnarok’s realm shifting power, Niflheim is changed once your return post-game. Just left of the ramp leading up to the Tree of Woe is a new path leading to the Broken Prison – a piece of Asgard hurled to Niflheim. Not only will you need to find all the chests and collectibles there to 100% Niflheim, but you’ll also bump into an unexpected character. The less said, the better.
That about wraps up what to do in the post-game in God of War Ragnarok. For more help traveling the Nine Realms, head to our dedicated guides hub for walkthroughs, realm completion guides, collectibles, ravens, draugr holes, armor sets, and plenty more.
