When it comes to in-game items in Fortnite, the world revolves around V-Bucks. The game’s premium currency is used to buy Battle Passes, items like gliders, weapons, cosmetics, and of course, skins. But all good things come at a cost, and if you want to get plenty of V-Bucks, you’ll have to spend real money. That being said, there are a few ways you can earn some free V-Bucks in-game.

All ways to get V-Bucks for free in Fortnite

Somewhat surprisingly, there are a few ways to get free V-Bucks in Fortnite. These vary in effectiveness, with some giving you a few V-Bucks fairly quickly, while others will require a bit more effort to get more in the long run. Here are all the ways you can get free V-Bucks in Fortnite without having to buy them:

  • Battle Pass
  • Providing feedback
  • Daily quests (Save the World)
  • Main quests (Save the World)
  • Side quests (Save the World)
  • Timed missions (Save the World)

If you have the Founder’s edition of the Save the World mode, you will be able to earn a lot more V-Bucks than other players. Unfortunately, this edition is now extremely rare and can no longer be purchased from Epic Games.

✓ Are there any codes for free V-Bucks

Currently, there isn’t a glitch to get free V-bucks and there are no active free V-bucks codes available. However, we have seen in the past Epic may give out free V-bucks if there’s a long downtime, like the one we had at the end of March 2024.

Battle Pass

With the new seasonal Battle Passes, you can earn up to 1,500 V-Bucks by levelling up. This does require you to pay for the Battle Pass, which will cost 950 Fortnite V-Bucks, and then you will get 550 extra V-Bucks. If you don’t wish to buy the Battle Pass, then you can also earn 300 V-Bucks by playing the game and levelling up. You can unlock these V-Bucks by simply earning Battle Stars and using them to unlock rewards.

Generally, it’s also worth saving up some V-Bucks to buy the full Battle Pass. If you don’t want to spend real money, you can use the V-Bucks you got from a few free Battle Passes to buy the full version. This means you’ll be able to buy each new Battle Pass with what you have earned from the previous one and have more than 500 V-Bucks profit left over.

Providing feedback

User feedback is very important to Epic Games, which is why the company is constantly looking for it while trying to improve Fortnite. Thanks to community feedback, the developers have been able to implement a whole host of changes over the years. And while anyone can provide feedback, certain players can also earn free V-Bucks for doing that. Looks like something you’d enjoy? In order to receive free V-Bucks from Epic Games, you must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Live in the United States (Not required but highly recommended)
  • Have high-speed internet
  • Own a webcam

Aside from US citizens, you may apply to join the program even if you are from another country. While applying, simply choose that you’re outside of the US. However, your application may not be approved. Research sessions may also require you to install a remote desktop application provided by Epic Games. However, this application is 100% safe and will only be used during the research session. After you participate in a Fortnite study, you will receive an Amazon gift card, which you can exchange for V-Bucks.

If you want to get started, please visit Epic Games’ website. During your application, you will be asked for personal information, including your name and state. If Epic approves your application, you will receive an email with instructions on how to participate in a research session and earn free V-Bucks.

Get V-Bucks in a minute

Once you receive an Amazon gift card from Epic Games, you can easily turn it into free V-Bucks. To do so, head over to Amazon and use your gift card to purchase Fortnite’s premium currency.

Save the World Daily quests

Currently, there are limited ways to get free V-Bucks in the Battle Royale game mode, however, there are ways in Save the World mode. The Save the World mode gets a fresh batch of daily quests every day, and these can be completed to grant anywhere from 30 to 130 V-Bucks. These typically require you to complete certain objectives in missions such as exploring a certain number of zones or looting a certain number of treasure chests. You almost certainly won’t be able to complete all of these in one mission, so it’s going to take you a few tries to clear up your quests for the day. That being said, if you’re consistently completing all your daily quests, you can get yourself a massive number of V-Bucks in the long run.

Save the World Main quests

In Save the World, there are four different main questlines, one in each of the areas of Canny Valley, Plankerton, Stonewood and Twine Peaks. Not every mission will give you V-Bucks, but each questline grants a total of 1,050 V-Bucks to collect. Different areas have different numbers of quests, so if you want some fast V-Bucks then you should focus on Stonewood as you can get all 1,050 V-Bucks in only 34 quests. In comparison, Plankerton, Canny Valley and Twine Peaks each have 51 quests, 81 quests and 98 quests respectively, so will take far longer to complete.

Save the World Side quests

As you progress through the main questline in each area in Save the World, you’ll unlock a selection of side quests you can do. Again, just like main quests, not all side quests will reward you with V-Bucks, but you can specifically look to take on certain ones which do. Keep an eye out for Storm Shield Defense quests and Lok’s Book of Monsters quests. In addition, there are a few challenges that can be repeated to earn between 30 and 50 V-Bucks. For these, you’ll want to keep an eye out for the Mission Accomplished!, Hold The Door! and Toxic Treasures challenges. In total, you can earn 2,600 V-Bucks from all of the side quests across every area in Save the World.

Timed missions

Time-limited missions are a different type of daily mission which is only available for 24 hours before it disappears and a new set of timed missions will become available. While there are plenty to choose from, only Mini-Boss missions provide any V-Bucks, with each one rewarding you with 25-40 V-Bucks for completing. You can only receive V-Bucks for beating them once, so if you were thinking about doing them repeatedly to get more V-Bucks, don’t bother as you won’t receive anything beyond your initial reward.

Beware of Scams

There are a lot of potential scams online for free V-Bucks – these include websites, YouTube videos, and in social media, such as Instagram, Twitter, TikTok etc. A lot of these sites and YouTube videos will tell players to download third-party software or will direct players to a third-party website and ask players to log into their Epic Games account. Do not fall for these scams and never enter your account details to non-official websites. As mentioned above, there is no V-Bucks glitch or active codes for free V-Bucks, therefore we would advise you to be cautious if you find websites or videos claiming that there are.

Unlike V-Bucks, it’s easier to get your hands on some free Fortnite skins. And speaking of premium stuff, why not find out how much is your Fortnite account worth?
