With Final Fantasy 16 right around the corner, you’ll want to preload FFXVI right now.

The release date of Final Fantasy 16 is about as close as can be, the PS5 release date that is, as the game cannot be played on the PS4 and there is only release date speculation for the PC version.

If you want to get stuck into the game as soon as possible, preloading is essential. This saves you from having to wait for its release date to begin what could be a lengthy download process. A preload works but installing the game files onto your system but with measures in place which mean you cannot actually launch the game. Your PlayStation 5 will only be able to use the pre-downloaded files to play Final Fantasy 16 when the release date has passed.

The good news is that Final Fantasy XVI can be preloaded right now. If you know you are going to purchase the game there is no reason to not take advantage of this time save. Let’s get into how to do it.

How to preload Final Fantasy 16 on PS5

Here is everything you need to do in order to predownload FF16. This will mean you can get gaming as soon as possible on June 22nd.

  • Go to the PlayStation Store.
  • Type in ‘Final Fantasy XVI’.
  • Buy either edition of the game.
  • Once you have completed the purchase an option to ‘preload’ will appear.

If you already pre-ordered the game before the option to preload was activated the process is slightly different. Instead, go to your game library and select the game. Next to it, an option to preload should be there which you can then select.

Remember that there will be a Final Fantasy 16 day one patch which you will also need to download. This means you should still be prepared for a bit of downloading even when the game has been released.
