Every Expedition has a final boss that acts as an explosive finale, determining whether you successfully completed the Expedition or not. These bosses are known as the Nightlords and are manifestations of the Night, the dark force looming over Limveld and the root of the Night’s Tide.
When you fire up Elden Ring Nightreign, you’ll only have the option to the Tricephalos Expedition, which will see you take on Gladius, Beast of Night. However, once you’ve successfully completed the Expedition, you’ll unlock six further Expeditions with their own unique Nightlords. Beat four different Expeditions and you’ll unlock the final Expedition, pitting you against the true aspect of Night.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through all eight Elden Ring Nightreign Nightlord bosses. Success is determined by many factors, not least having a firm handle on the new movement options, setting up the Relic Rites, and knowing how to upgrade weapons.
Here are all the Nightlord bosses:
- Tricephalos – Gladius, Beast of Night
- Gapingjaw – Adel, Baron of Night
- Sentient Pest – Gnoster, Wisdom of Night
- Augur – Maris, Fathom of Night
- Equilibrious Beast – Libra, Creature of Night
- Darkdrift Knight – Fulghor, Champion of Nightglow
- Fissure in the Fog – Caligo, Miasma of Night
- Night Aspect – Heolstor the Nightlord
Tricephalos – Gladius, Beast of Night
- Weaknesses – Holy
- Rewards – Trace of Night, Old Pocketwatch, Night of the Beast
Gladius, The Beast is a three-headed wolf that wields a chained sword. Extremely mobile, Gladius uses his sword to sweep the battlefield, hitting any Nightfarer unlike enough to stand in its path. Add to that ferocious lunging attacks and the ability to enchant the blade with fire, and this hound is a tough opponent. Additionally, Gladius will also split into three separate wolves that will rapidly roam the battlefield attacking independently of one another.
Gapingjaw – Adel, Baron of Night
- Weaknesses – Poison, Frost, Sleep
- Rewards – Trace of Night, Night of the Baron
Adel, Baron of Night is a corrupted dragon with a gaping maw decked out gnarled teeth for its head. Mobile and unpredictable in its movements, Adel’s moveset is all about charging at Nightfarers with its monstrous jaws, chopping and devouring everything in its path. Whittle down Adel’s health enough and you’ll enter phase 2 where devastating AoE lightning attacks ripple across the battlefield.
Sentient Pest – Gnoster, Wisdom of Night
- Weaknesses – Fire
- Rewards – Trace of Night, Night of the Wise
Gnoster isn’t a single entity, but two: a flying moth whose gentle aerial swoops belie its immense magic and poison-inflicting power and a part cricket, part scorpion aberration of impressive size and reach. Keeping track of this duo’s different movesets and avoiding the larger of the two’s devastating stomping legs are key to success, but be wary of the Moth’s poisonous shroud, which will steadily eat away at the health of any Nightfarer unlucky enough to pass through it.
Augur – Maris, Fathom of Night
- Weaknesses – Lightning
- Rewards – Trace of Night, Night of the Fathom
Best described as flowing, translucent primordial gloopy shrimp, Maris, Fathom of Night may glide slowly across the battlefield but don’t think this tentacled will go down easy. Using an array of summoned allies, simply staying afoot of potential dangers as you traverse the arena is a feat in itself. Fortunately, a weakness to Lightning should give you a fighting chance against the Augur.
Equilibrious Beast – Libra, Creature of Night
- Weaknesses – Madness, Holy, Fire
- Rewards – Trace of Night, Night of the Demon
Libra, Creature of Night is a bipedal horned goat that trots about upright on a set of hoofs, wielding madness and a hulking quarterstaff to inflict heavy damage on any contenders brave enough to enter the battlefield. Success here revolves around managing your own madness levels, while inflicting as much of the mind-altering ailment on Libra as possible to divest him of his full range of attacks.
Darkdrift Knight – Fulghor, Champion of Nightglow
- Weaknesses – Lightning
- Rewards – Trace of Night, Night of the Champion
A one-armed rampaging centaur that wields a hulking helm-less blade, Fulghor, Champion of Nightglow is fast and deadly, utilising the Holy affinity to supplement his devastating swings and slashes with AoE attacks. While a tough foe, the Darkdrift Knight has a particular weakness to Lightning with is where you’ll make headway in one of the toughest Nightlord fights in Elden Ring Nightreign.
Fissure in the Fog – Caligo, Miasma of Night
- Weaknesses – Fire, Blood Loss
- Rewards – Trace of Night, Night of the Miasma
Caligo, Miasma of Night is a towering dragon made of razor-sharp icy shards. While much of his attacks take on a colder complexion, his ability to take to the air and even conjure up a protective fog make tracking his movements half the battle. His penchant for frosty attacks does make him weak to fire, which is where you’ll want to place all your bets if you want to down this foe.
Night Aspect – Heolstor the Nightlord
- Weaknesses – Holy
- Rewards – Night of the Lord
Though small in stature compared to his Nightlordian counterparts, Heolstor the Nightlord is an AoE machine that is likely to cause you a headache or two, especially if you can make it to his devastating second phase. He’s fast, aggressive, and comes at you with a trove of different attacks and moves to keep you guessing. Luckily, he’s weak to Holy damage so be sure to stock up on relevant weapons and greases before taking on what is arguably the toughest of the Elden Ring Nightreign Nightlord bosses.
