Unsure how to unlock the Duchess and Revenant class?  Elden Ring Nightreign has a total of 8 different Nightfarer character classes each with their distinct skills and playstyles. However, when you dive into Limveld for your first Expedition, you’ll only have the option to play as one of six out of the total eight Nightfarers – Wylder, Ironeye, Guardian, Recluse, Raider, and Executor.

As for the other two – the Duchess and the Revenant – there’s some hoop jumping and signature FromSoftware opaqueness involved to unlock them, but it shouldn’t take you more than a handful of Expeditions. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to unlock the Duchess and Revenant classes in Elden Ring Nightreign. Note that you’ll need to first unlock the Duchess before you can get the Revenant.

How to unlock the Duchess in Elden Ring Nightreign

  • Complete the Tricephalos Expedition
  • Obtain the Old Pocketwatch as a reward for defeating Gladius, Beast of Night
  • Give the Old Pocketwatch to the Priestess in the Roundtable Hold
  • The Priestess reveals she’s the Duchess, making her playable

To unlock the Duchess, you’ll need to first complete the starting Tricephalos Expedition by defeating the Nightlord boss Gladius, Beast of Night to get a Relic called the Old Pocketwatch. Once you’re back in the Roundtable Hold, talk to the Priestess (the woman in the white cloak) by the Table of Lost Grace and hand over the Old Pocketwatch when prompted. A short cutscene will follow with the Priestess dramatically revealing she is in fact Duchess. From then on, she’ll be listed among the playable classes for any future Expeditions and you’ll also earn a trophy for the trouble.

How to unlock the Revenant in Elden Ring Nightreign

  • Unlock the Duchess class
  • Buy the Besmirched Frame from the Small Jar Bazaar
  • Touch the Revenant phantom in the east wing of the Roundtable Hold
  • Defeat the Night Idol to unlock the Revenant

Before you can get the Revenant, make sure you’ve unlocked the Duchess per the instructions above. From there to unlock the Revenant head over to the Small Jar Bazaar in the Roundtable Hold and buy the Besmirched Frame for 1500 Murk.

Head over to the yellow exclamation mark icon in the east wing of the Roundtable Hold and you’ll find the ghost of a young woman. Touch the phantom. You’ll then be teleported back to the same area where you played through the tutorial where you’ll need to take and fight the Night Idol, i.e. the Revenant. Defeating her will unlock the Revenant as a playable class in Expeditions moving forward like any other character.

During the fight, she’s flanked by three spirits. You’ll want to get rid of them first before focusing your attention on the Revenant. Go for the small one first, then the large mobile ogre, and lastly the skeleton. Stay towards the front of the arena to avoid the skeleton’s attacks. With the spirits dead, taking down the Revenant shouldn’t be too challenging, just watch out for her holy spinning disc attack.

Like with the other six Nightfarer classes, both the Duchess and Revenant have their own set of story Remembrances that you can access at the Journal in the Roundtable Hold. To progressively unlock these, you’ll need to play multiple Expeditions as the Duchess and the Revenant.
