As you explore the Limveld map, you’ll come across a point of interest called the Sorcerer’s Rise. As the name implies, it’s a thing, towering plinth that just out of the ground. As you approach, you’ll see that the entrance is firmly shut by a seal. Edge nearer and you’ll be cryptically instructed to find the crest.
If you played the original Elden Ring, the concept is similar to breaking the seal at the rises found across The Lands Between. However with the Night’s Tide nibbling at your heels there’s no time to waste here so it’s worth knowing how to get the building open quickly. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to find the crest and break the seal at Sorcerer’s Rise in Elden Ring Nightreign.

How to find the crest in Elden Ring Nightreign
To break the seal and unlock Sorcerer’s rise, you’ll need to find and break one or several crests. These crests are hidden in and around the rise and involve solving one of several possible puzzle permutations. If the seal prevents you from entering the rise, the crest is outside. If entrance way is clear this means the crest is inside the rise. Here are all the possible crest puzzles and their respective solutions:
| Puzzle | Solution |
|---|---|
| Moving tree trunk | You’ll spot a moving tree trunk darting around the outside of the tower. Hit the trunk to reveal the crest. |
| Imp statue | At the foot of the stairs leading up to the rise, you’ll see an Imp statue holding a glowing book. Hit the Imp to see the crest. |
| Above the entrance | Look above the entrance to the rise and you’ll spot the crest. Hit it with either a ranged weapon or character skill to break it. |
| Candle | Hit the candle attached to the column on the left as you enter the rise to reveal the crest. |
| Pond | Head right from the entrance to the rise and you’ll spot a pond of water with a crest resting on the surface. Strike the crest to unlock the rise. |
| Trees | Head left from the rise entrance to find a small cluster of tree that looks different to any of the others nearby. Hit the trees to reveal the crest. |
| Bushes | Hit the small white cluster of bushes on the left side of the rise to reveal the crest. |
| Statue | Enter the rise and head to the right of scaffolding leading up hit to find a filled-in doorway. There’s usually a statue here. Hit the doorway to reveal the crest. |
| Wooden shack | Head round to the left side of the rise and look for a small wooden shack jutting out from the tower. Hit the shack to reveal the crest. |
Once the entrance is open and you’ve broken the seal, use the crystals and scaffolding ahead of you to climb up to the second floor. Follow the path outside and up the stairs to the top floor to find a Dormant Reward you can interact with to choose one of three options. The rewards tend to be magic focused given the location and often include magic-related passives, Staffs, and Sacred Seals, perfect for those playing as the Recluse and Revenant. There are also crates throughout the building you can smash to get consumable items.
