Though RNG and luck will largely dictate what weapons you’ll have access to as you take on Expeditions, it’s worth keeping an eye out for weapons that are particularly well suited to the Nightfarer class you’re playing. A weapon can be the decider between felling a mighty Nightlord and getting booted back to the Roundtable Hold with a measly haul of Murk and lesser Relics.
Much like in the original Elden Ring, weapons scale with specific Nightfarer attributes such as Strength, Dexterity, or Intelligence and run from S at best through to D at worst. What this means in practice is that certain weapons are better suited to specific Nightfarer classes. A Greastsword with Dexterity and Strength scaling will pair perfectly with the Wylder, while an Intelligence-geared Staff will work a treat with the Recluse. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the best weapons for each of the eight Nightfarer classes in Elden Ring Nightreign.
Wylder
- Scaling – Strength (A), Dexterity (B)
- Best weapon type – Greatswords
The Wylder scales predominantly with Strength weapons but has respectful Dexterity scaling, giving him quite a broad range of suitable weapons. Through this he lives up to his description as an all-rounder. But above all else, he pairs best with Greatswords and certain Straight Swords so prioritise these when you come across them.

Guardian
- Scaling – Strength (B)
- Best weapon type – Greatshields, Halberds, Greatspears
The Guardian scales with Strength weapons although he is geared as a defensive tank character that excels at handling shields. Greatshields are the way to go sided by a Halberd or Greatspear. Damage is less of a concern compared to other Nightfarers for what is effectively a damage sponge support class, so lean towards weapons with global passives that benefit your party such as drawing enemy attention or those that allow for one-handed guard counters to trigger riposte critical hits.

Ironeye
- Scaling – Dexterity (A), Arcane (B)
- Best weapon type – Bows, Katanas
The Ironeye scales mainly with the Dexterity attribute but is no slouch when it comes to Arcane, making him pretty capable with, of course, ranged bows, especially those with affinity damage alongside physical damage like Fire or Poison, but also Dex and Arcane-focused Katanas (even the odd Twin Blade), notably those with an ailment build-up like Blood Loss. Avoid Greatbows and crossbows as these are either too slow to make the make of the Ironeye’s mobility and don’t scale.

Duchess
- Scaling – Intelligence (A), Dexterity (B), Faith (B)
- Best weapon type – Daggers
Contrary to what you’d expect from a rogue class, the Duchess scales best with Intelligence weapons, allowing her to be reasonably competent when it comes to magic casting using Staffs and Seals. However, her moveset makes her more suitable for melee weapons. Ideally, you should be opting for weapons that incorporate Intelligence, Intelligence, and Dexterity attribute scaling like Daggers such as the Glintstone Kris. If in doubt, go for Daggers when playing the Duchess.

Raider
- Scaling – Strength (S)
- Best weapon type – Greataxes, Greathammers, Colossal Weapons
The Raider is Nightreign’s resident bruiser and has the best Strength scaling out of any the Nightfarer classes. This means you’ll want to lean towards Greathammers and Greataxes but especially Colossal Weapons, which is where you’ll unlock the Raider’s true potential. Their high damage mitigates the slow attack speed and any sort of affinity helps deal even more damage. The Raider also swings Colossal Weapons faster than any other class making them even more viable.

Revenant
- Scaling – Faith (S), Intelligence (B), Arcane (B)
- Best weapon type – Fist, Seals, Staffs
The Revenant scales with Faith and slumps pretty hard when it comes to any other stat. This plays into her role as a summoner because most of her damage comes from her spirits and some spellcasting. For this reason, Seals and Staffs are the Revenant’s primary weapon type, but it’s also worth looking out for a melee weapon to supplement her backline role as required such as Fist-type weapons like Claws. She’s the only class whose starting weapon is one of the best for her class, so keep the Revenant’s Cursed Claws handy and upgrade it when you can.

Coded Sword | Armament type – Straight Sword Attack affinity – Standard/Pierce Damage type – Physical/Holy Weapon skill – Unblockable Blade Scaling – Faith (S) Required level – 7 |
Recluse
- Scaling – Intelligence (S), Faith (S)
- Best weapon type – Seals, Staffs
The Recluse is Nightreign’s spellcaster and magic-wielder, meaning her favoured weapons are Seals and Staffs to scale with her heightened Intelligence and Faith stats. She’s more or less useless with melee weapons and it’s far better to focus on magic-focused alternatives that improve her spells and incantations but also FP regeneration if at all possible.

Executor
- Scaling – Dexterity (S), Arcane (S)
- Best weapon type – Katanas, Bows
Last but not least, the Executor scales with Dexterity and Arcane weapons, mainly katanas, especially those with affinity build-up like Blood Loss and Poison. His high Dexterity stat also makes him pretty adept with bows only second to the Ironeye, so it’s worth having a bow with an affinity or ailment in your inventory if only to revive teammates or inflict status build-up from afar where necessary.

As a general rule for all classes, you want to prioritise weapons that scale with your Nightfarer’s favoured stats while also keeping an eye out for passives that enhance your build for that particular run. Weapon rarity is also a reliable indicator of a weapon’s quality so opt for rare or legendary rarity weapons that scale with your class for the best results.
