Dragon’s Dogma 2 Wandering Roots walkthrough

Once you’ve entered the Unmoored World in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you can head to Sacred Arbor to try and convince the elves that they need to leave their homes and head to the Seafloor Shrine. Talk to Glyndwr or Doireann to start things off, and they will say that their father Taliesin refuses to leave.

Doireann will convince him that the elves’ home is wherever the Arborheart grows, and that if it can take root elsewhere, then it’s their only option. Taliesin will agree, and give you a cutoff of the Arborheart to plant at the Seafloor Shrine, stating that if it takes root, he will agree to evacuate the elves.

You can also potentially keep talking to Taliesin to try and convince him to get everyone to leave. This could take a few tries over several days, or may not happen at all. If you can’t get it to work for you, then you’ll have to plant the Arborheart cutting instead.

Healing the Arborheart

In order to bring an Arborheart cutting to the Seafloor Shrine, you first must have already restored the Arborheart. This is done through the Ailing Arborheart side quest. If you’ve already completed this, then you can skip to the next section. If not, you’ll need to do this now.

Talk to Doireann who will say she needs something called Gwyfencha to heal the Arborheart, but she doesn’t know where to find it. Head to the far south of Bakbattahl to Brokkr’s Smithy to find out that Gwyfencha is also known as Scalecinder, and that while you can find some nearby, he won’t let you have any.

His apprentice, Sara, tells you that dwarves love an elven food called ‘Nutriabh’. Head back to Sacred Arbor and talk to Doireann. Bring her any rotten fish and a rotten apple, and she’ll make a batch. Bring it back to Brokkr, and you’ll be able to collect some Scalecinder. Bring it all back to Doireann to heal the Arborheart, letting you continue with Wandering Roots.

Use a Portcrystal

Since Ferrystones are so plentiful in the Unmoored World, be sure to place a Portcrystal at Sacred Arbor so you can fast travel between here and the Seafloor Shrine to finish the quest in only a few minutes.

Planting the Arborheart cutting

Head to the Seafloor Shrine, and look for a small square patch of soil in the northwest corner of the area (check the map above for a precise location). Examine the soil with the cutting in your inventory to plant it. Return to Taliesin with the good news and he will agree to evacuate Sacred Arbor’s elves to the Seafloor Shrine.

Once completed, and regardless of the method you used, you’ll receive 20,000 XP, 25,000G, and 30 Wyrmslife Crystals.

That’s everything you need to know about the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Wandering Roots quest. If you’re after some more Dragon’s Dogma 2 quest guides, be sure to check out Prey to the Pack and Hunt for the Jadeite Orb too.
