There are many secrets to be found in Dragon’s Dogma 2, some of which are achievements. For instance, if you want to get the Gigantus, I Hardly Knew Ye achievement, you need to defeat the Colossus quickly in Dragon’s Dogma 2. This is no easy feat as this massive being can take a lot of hits.
Taking down the Gigantus quickly
To quickly take down the Gigantus, use the Unmaking Arrow that you can get from the Dragonforged at the Wayside Shrine or for completing the Sphinx’s riddles. You can also use the ballista in the canyon if you are quick enough.

To get the Gigantus, I hardly Knew Ye achievement, you need to “defeat the Gigantus in a short span of time.” That can be a tough ask if you aren’t prepared. Luckily, there are two ways to get this trophy during the New Godsway main quest. First, you can get the Unmaking Arrow. Second, you can destroy it with the ballistas along the fiery trench. Use the Unmaking Arrow
The Unmaking Arrow is a special item in Dragon’s Dogma 2 that “kills instantly.” When you fire it, the game autosaves so you can’t undo your decision. You can get this arrow from the Dragonforged NPC at the Bay Wayside Shrine in Battahl. This arrow can only be shot with the archer vocation or the Warfarer vocation. Once you see the large colossus in view, simply shoot it with the arrow and you’ll get a cutscene where it is taken down.
A second arrow can be obtained from completing the Sphinx Riddles. As a reward for completing the final riddle you’ll get an Unmaking Arrow from a chest.
How to destroy the Gigantus with the Ballistas
There are multiple ballistas lining the lava-filled gorge leading to where Lord Phaesus runs during the guardian Gigantus quest. During this boss fight, you can use the Ballistas to bring down the Gigantus by shooting the glowing spikes sticking out of its body. One will automatically be destroyed by a ballista up on a high cliff. Afterward, use the other ballistas to destroy the various spikes. There should be around four or five spikes with one being in the ankle and requiring you to brave the lava to destroy it. If you can do this before the point of no return, you will get the achievement.
