The Diablo 4 Lilith boss fight is by far the hardest one you’ll come up against in the game’s main campaign. The battle against the Mother of Sanctuary herself will put everything you’ve learned so far to the test and you’ll need to know how to deal with every one of this powerful demon’s attacks if you want to best her.

Before you take her on, ensure you have the best build for your character, like our Diablo 4 Necromancer build. And to make sure to level up your Diablo 4 renown to get as many potions as you can. Without further ado, let’s go through how to beat the Diablo 4 Lilith boss fight. Check out all the details about Diablo 4 Season 2 as well.

How to beat Lilith in Diablo 4

As the final campaign boss, Lilith can be a menace to defeat. Here’s how to beat Lilith in Diablo 4.

Preparing for the fight

As the final boss and main villain of Diablo 4’s story, Lilith is no pushover, and can easily kill you if you aren’t ready for her. Before you start, ensure you’re at an appropriate level to fight her. If you’re playing on World Tier 1, aim for around level 40, while on World Tier 2, you should be alright from around level 45 onwards. Naturally, if you want to go higher, you can, as higher levels will make the fight progressively easier. And if you’re struggling on World Tier 2, there’s no shame in dropping down to World Tier 1.

As for any abilities that work well for this fight, you’ll want to make good use of any crowd control abilities and inflicting debuffs. As well as staggering Lilith, she periodically spawns mobs, and being able to take them down quickly will be crucial to victory. Any minions of your own you can spawn are also useful for chipping away at her health, so Necromancer’s skeletons and Sorcerer’s hydra are both great options.

Make good use of elixirs. By this stage of the game, you should have plenty of ingredients stocked up, and a good buff from an elixir could be the difference between victory and defeat in this fight.

Finally, it’s an obvious one, but make sure you’ve got the best gear you can get. This means anything from base damage and armour down to extra critical strike damage and lucky hit chance. If you deal more damage and take less damage, this fight will be far easier than it would be otherwise.

Phase 1 – Creator of Sanctuary form

In her first phase, Lilith uses three different attacks. This is the same form with which she fought Inarius in an earlier cinematic. Her melee attack sees her spin twice with her wings, which can be avoided by standing at range from her whirlwind. Her second attack has red lines appear on the ground like a claw mark. These are well-telegraphed and these swipes can be avoided by simply walking out of them.

Her next attack is the one you want to watch out for in this encounter. She will fly up into the air before slamming down into the centre of the room. If you get hit by this you’ll take a considerable amount of damage, so as soon as you see her fly upwards, head to the edges of the room to avoid this attack.

As previously mentioned, she will also sometimes spawn waves of enemies. This will consist of regular mobs and one elite enemy. Use your crowd control abilities to take them down quickly before returning your focus to Lilith. Deplete her HP to zero to begin her second phase.

Phase 2 – Daughter of Hatred form

The second phase of the fight is where things really heat up. She continues to use her previous attacks, but each of them is much stronger than before. Each attack deals much more damage, and can potentially one-shot you if you aren’t careful, and her AoE attacks affect a larger area than before. Telegraphing her attacks to avoid any damage is fundamental to defeating her second phase, so make this your priority, especially if you’re playing on hardcore mode.

She adds two AoE abilities to her arsenal. Firstly, she will fly sideways, and red mist will start to appear in areas of the arena. She will then light these on fire, so avoid these flames. Secondly, she will spawn spikes on the ground which explode after a short time, potentially dealing large amounts of damage. Avoid standing near these, too. Any fire resistance armour will help out here.

That’s not all, though. As the fight progresses and you deal more damage to Lilith’s health bar, parts of the arena will start crumbling, giving you less area to shelter from her attacks. This phase of the fight is much more about avoiding damage than dealing it. Use minions to chip away at her health and crowd control to stagger her, and use burst damage when this happens to make up the bulk of your damage.

Once you deplete her health bar completely, the fight will end, and you’ll have completed the main campaign of Diablo 4.

What are the rewards for defeating Lilith in Diablo 4?

The main reward for defeating Lilith is finishing the game’s storyline. This will give you access to a whole new set of Diablo 4 post game content for you to take on, like Helltide Events and Nightmare Dungeons. You’ll also now be able to create a new character and skip the campaign, progressing straight to the endgame if you so choose.

As for loot, you will always receive a unique legendary ring drop called Mother’s Embrace. This ring comes with an Aspect with the description “If a Core Skill hits 5 or more enemies, X% of the resource cost is refunded”. This is a very powerful item for crowd control-heavy builds and is sure to come in handy as you explore the endgame.

Aside from this, you’ll also receive the usual collection of rare items and gold that you would from any boss in Diablo 4, although perhaps a bit more than usual.
