What does transmog mean in Diablo 4?

The transmog, or transmogrification, system allows you to alter the appearance of your character. For example, if you’ve found a cool looking piece of armour with bad stats, you can use transmog to set it as a default cosmetic. This means that your character will always appear to be wearing this armour, even if you have other armour equipped.

How do you transmog in Diablo 4?

If you want to use the transmog system, you first need to reach the city of Kyovashad. This involves completing the Rite of Passage main quest, where you accompany Lorath from his cabin to Kyovashad.

Once you’re there, open up your map, and just above the waypoint in the centre of the city, you’ll see the marker for a wardrobe. Head towards this, enter the building, walk up the stairs and into the room ahead of you and you’ll find a wardrobe next to the wall.

Interact with the wardrobe to bring up the transmog menu. Here, you can set which items you want to have visible, or even choose not to have any armour visible. Additionally, you can use the wardrobe to change your appearance and your headstones.

You can also set some presets in the ensemble section, allowing you to quickly change between different looks. You start out with one ensemble slot, with each successive ensemble slot costing progressively more money.

Once you start exploring the game and visiting other cities, you’ll find that each major city comes with its own wardrobe, so you’ll be able to head to any of these to transmog in future.
