The Destiny 2 Final Shape pre-order isn’t a cheap purchase, which can make it a tough decision for those on the fence about it. So how much money could you be looking at, what extras will you get for purchasing it, and is it worth all the hype?
That’s what we’ll aim to answer here as we walk you through everything you need to know about the Destiny 2 Final Shape pre-order. If you’re not sure when the Final Shape release date is, we’ve covered that separately. Fortunately, you’ve still got plenty of time to grind out Season of the Wish weapons or hop into Warlord’s Ruin before then.
How much does the pre-order for Destiny 2 The Final Shape cost?
You can currently pre-purchase the Destiny 2 Final Shape expansion for £41.99/$53. If you’re buying the annual pass bundle, that price goes up to £83.99/$106. As usual, it’s a pretty controversial price. But in the face of the recent Bungie layoffs and subsequent revelations about the game’s struggling finances, it perhaps shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Even though it’s a pretty steep asking price, plenty of players will find it worth the money. So what will you get if you do decide to pick up the Final Shape pre-order?
What does pre-ordering Destiny 2 The Final Shape get you?
Depending on the version you pick up, you will of course get the expected content and some pre-order bonuses when you pre-order the Final shape DLC. First, here’s what you’ll get if you pre-order the standard edition of TFS right now.
- The Final Shape story campaign.
- Full access to a new location – The Heart of The Traveler.
- Full access to the new subclass, and the new supers coming for each class within existing subclasses.
- New weapons, armor and exotics coming in the expansion.
- Access to the new raid.
- The season pass for the associated season 24.
- A pre-order exclusive exotic Ghost shell.
- A pre-order exclusive emblem
- Early access to the Final Shape exotic fusion rifle, Tessellation.
If you pre-order the Final Shape + Annual Pass bundle, you’ll get all of the above, as well as access to the paid tracks for the next one year’s worth of season passes, or equivalent. You’ll also get free access to all Final Shape year related content, such as dungeons, for free.
Is it worth pre-ordering Destiny 2 The Final Shape?
Ultimately this is a question only you can answer, and depends on whether you want to invest the money.
There are some pros of course. TFS will be the conclusion to the Light and Darkness Saga, and mark the climactic end to a long story of Destiny 2, which may be enough reason for some players on its own. With the Final Shape delayed until summer 2024, there’s also an expectation that this expansion will be larger than we’re currently expecting, with regular comparisons to the acclaimed Witch Queen and Forsaken expansions setting hopes and expectations high.
Being a pre-order of course, there’s also the risk that the DLC falls short of expectations. Not to mention the pre-order bonuses themselves are fairly limited and lacklustre.
Whether or not you decide to invest in the Destiny 2 Final Shape pre-order, you hopefully now have a clearer picture of cost, rewards, and expectations. There is fortunately plenty more we still have yet to learn about the DLC. We’re crossing our fingers that by the time it drops, we’ll be able to add a few new entries to our picks for the best Titan exotics, best Hunter exotics, and best Warlock exotics in the game.
