Split-screen couch gaming is some of the most fun you can have with a console and a friend. Call of Duty Black Ops 6 allows you to play in split screen, barring a few conditions. That way, you can use the same console and TV to play a Multiplayer match or a Zombies game from the very same room. We’ll explain how to do it in this guide.

How to play Black Ops 6 in split screen, explained

To start playing BO6 in split screen, you need to have two controllers (as you’d expect) and two Activision accounts. Follow these steps to set up a split-screen session:

  1. Launch Black Ops 6 from your main account.
  2. Go to the lobby of the game mode you want to play, such as Multiplayer or Zombies.
  3. Turn on the second controller and activate it by pressing X for PS5 or A for Xbox.
  4. Sign in with the second Activision account using the second controller – importantly, you can’t use a Guest account.
  5. Add the second player to your group.
  6. Optionally, you can set the Squad Fill option to off, so that no one else can join and you can play as duo.
  7. You’re all set, now you can start the game mode and play together in split screen.

Which game modes don’t work with split screen?

While you can play most Multiplayer modes and all Zombies missions in split screen, there are a few modes that you can’t do it in. Additionally, some platforms won’t support split screen as well. Here’s everything you can’t do in split screen:

  • Old-gen consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) and PC can’t use split-screen
  • The Campaign
  • Free for All Multiplayer game mode
  • Training Ground

Other than the above, you can freely play in split screen in other game modes. In addition, note that currently only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S support this feature. And don’t forget that you need to have two separate Activision accounts to set it up.
