While playing Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode with other players is all well and good, there are times when you’ll want to dive in solo, whether that’s to grind levels or avoid the pressure of having to support teammates as you take on the zombie horde.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to play Zombies solo, which is, all things considered, pretty simple to do. We do recommend completing the campaign before diving into Zombies if you haven’t already.
How to queue up solo in Zombies
To play Zombies solo, load into the Zombies mode, then tap on the Select Mission button in the bottom left-hand corner. Select Standard in the top right of the screen, then tap on the Play Solo button. On the next screen, select the map you want to play. Edit your loadout on the next screen then tap the Start Mission button. You’ll then load into a Zombies match solo without any squadmates.
Solo Zombies tips
Solo Zombies is a completely different beast to co-op. It’s you against the zombies; no teammates to swoop in and save the day when things get hairy. Here are a few tips to get your started on the right foot.
Grind to level 4 to unlock loadouts
We recommend grinding through a few sessions of Zombies for the sole purpose of unlocking the ability to edit your loadout. Once that’s done, you can select your favourite weapon, dial in the optimal attachments, and secure the best throwables before you load into a match. It might not seem like much, but solo Zombies is a whole lot easier if you’re running a gun you’re familiar with.
Pick up score multiplier whenever you can to speed up the leveling up process.
Unlock Augments ASAP
Similar to loadout, you can edit your Augments once you hit level 11, so get in there and grind away. Augments allow you to research permanent boosts and buffs to Perk-a-Colas, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades. From there, every time you play Zombies, you’ll earn Augment Research (basically Zombies XP) to upgrade them. They are, by and far, the best way to make mowing down Zombies solo drastically easier.
Always have a self-revive
Death is all but inevitable in Zombies. To mitigate ending a round earlier than expected, buy a self-revive as soon as you can then if you use it, make sure to replace it with a fresh one as soon as possible. You can’t rely on squadmates to bring you back to life so self-revives are arguably one of the most crucial buys you can make in Zombies when playing solo.
Keep moving
When playing in co-op, you can set up positions to defend, post a teammate on a building to gain a height advantage, and use other similar tactics that are only an option when you’re not playing alone. Forget trying any of this solo. Instead, focus on constantly moving. Be mobile and agile, running between buildings and open spaces to escape the horde, and create space. Otherwise, you run the risk of being overwhelmed and killed pretty quickly. Once the zombies get too close, you’re done for.
Prioritize Perks and Ammo Mods over new weapons
It can be tempting to buy a shiny new weapon when you get your first meaty batch of Essence, but hold off on that impulse and instead spend you cash on Perks and Ammo Mods. This will have a longer lasting effect than buying individual weapons and will drastically improve your chances of survival. Once you’re pulling in steady cash from fresh zombie waves, then spend Essence on a better weapons to complement your perks.
