One of the most iconic moves in Call of Duty multiplayer is to get so far ahead that you can drop a nuke on the map. We’ve all seen highlight reels of players doing that, if not doing it ourselves. The good news is that you can get and drop a nuke in Black Ops 6 as well. But the (somewhat) bad news is that it can be quite difficult, but still doable. Let’s explore how and why.

How to earn and drop a nuke in Black Ops 6

Getting a nuke falls under the Multiplayer Dark Ops challenges, meaning that it’s hidden until you complete it. To save you time and effort from guessing, here’s what you need to do. To get a nuke in Black Ops 6 you need to score 30 kills in a row without getting killed. There are some stipulations – mainly that all of those kills have to come from your weapons and equipment. So kills with your guns, grenades, mines, etc, they all count. However, kills from Scorestreaks won’t count for this challenge.

After earning the nuke, you can activate it the same way you would activate any other Scorestreak reward. By doing that, a nuke will be dropped on the map killing everyone, including yourself. However, the match will then end and you will be declared the winner.

Tips to have a better chance of getting a nuke

Getting a nuke is no easy feat, so stacking the odds in your favour can only benefit this goal. We have some general outlines to make it a bit easier:

  • Play with friends: One of the best ways to get some help in getting a nuke is by enlisting friends. They can watch your back so you don’t get killed, spot enemies for kills of your own, and add their tacticals to set you up.
  • Survey the map: The map layout can play a huge role in securing a nuke. Some maps have bad spawn points that can put you in danger from the start, like Lowtown. Others are very crowded which can be both a benefit and a detriment. On the other hand, Vorkuta comes to mind as a map where you can set up in a good way which can help you get that streak going.
  • Pick the right game mode: Some game modes make it very difficult to achieve getting a nuke. Free For All is notoriously hard for this, for example. On the other hand, Infected mode can be a good pick, since players turned into zombies will count for the streak and are easier to kill.
  • Secure and hold a position: Lastly, finding a good position to get kills while putting yourself in minimum danger will go a long way to securing a nuke. Check the map for positions where you can box in and score kills while remaining relatively safe.
✓ Weapons matter

Your choice of weaponry is important when aiming to get a nuke. The safer options are often the best way to go about it – like snipers and marksman rifles. In contrast, playing shotguns or even SMGs usually means you’ll be in the thick of the fight. While certainly doable, these weapons make it more challenging.

Rewards for getting a nuke

If you manage to pull it off and get a nuke, then you can also look forward to some rewards along with bragging rights. They all fall into the Dark Ops Challenges category and there are three Calling Cards that you can earn:

RewardHow to get
“Nuclear Killer” Calling CardReward for earning a nuke.
“Nuked Out” Calling CardReward for earning a nuke in Free For All mode.
“Very Nuclear” Calling CardReward for earning a nuke with 25 different weapons.
