You will collect many mysterious items along your journey in Black Myth: Wukong. Many of them are described only through poetry in your inventory, keeping their purpose a secret. Yet later on, they can unlock special areas, lead you to secret bosses, and more. Others, meanwhile, are still a mystery to the community, such as the case of the five Skandhas, including the first one you find, Skandha of Form.

How to get Skandha of Form in Black Myth: Wukong?

You can find the Skandha of Form in the Forest of Wolves area of Chapter 1: Black Cloud, Red Fire. It can be easy to miss on your first playthrough, so we’ll explain how to get it.

After completing the initial tutorial area, you will encounter your first Shrine. Then, follow the path through the wooden gate and across a wooden bridge. Take a left turn and follow the trail, along which you will encounter several mobs. Defeat them and keep going forward until you reach a clearing. On the right side, a big patrolling boss will immediately catch your eye. However, leave him for now and turn left instead.

On the left side, you’ll see another enemy praying in front of a stone menhir, followed by a river down that hill. Approach the river, and you will see someone inspecting a boulder near the waterfall, before making their escape. Approach that boulder, and you’ll see that it’s actually a stone head.

You can interact with the stone head by pressing E (on PC), which will then reward you with Skandha of Form. After that, you can follow the river back upstream if you want to explore the off-track area for more resources and enemies to kill. Otherwise, return to the clearing and face the first boss of the game.

✓ Pro tip

If you missed picking up the Skandha of Form, you can use any Shrine to fast-travel back to the first Shrine. Then, follow our guide to find it – it will still be there waiting for you.

What is Skandha of Form used for?

There are five Skandhas in Black Myth: Wukong, corresponding with the five Skandhas of Buddhist teaching. One can be found in each chapter except for Chapter 5, including Scandha of Feeling, Skandha of Choice, Skandha of Thought, and others. Interestingly, in Buddhism, the Skandhas correspond to Form, Feeling, Perception, Concept, and Consciousness.

However, it is unclear what these items are used for in the game so far. It is possible that they will unlock something when all five have been collected in one place, but for now, we haven’t been able to discern their purpose. We will update this section when further progress is made in the game and we learn the meaning behind these key items.
