Out of all of the weapons in the current Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer beta, the RAPP-H light machine gun might be the most underrated. A majority of players have flocked to guns like the M4, Lachmann Sub and FSS Hurricane considering how strong they are right out of the gate. While those weapons are worth a loadout spot in the Gunsmith, there’s another gun that players are underrating. The RAPP-H might not be the flashiest gun, but it has a rock-solid loadout that can obliterate enemies in Modern Warfare 2.

Armed with high damage output and a strong rate of fire, it’s very easy to dominate mid-range gunfights but its mobility causes plenty of problems when navigating the map. The RAPP-H might not be the best for precision but it can be kept steady enough to deal insane damage to anyone foolish enough to advance on your position.

When wielding the Rapp-H, you’ll want to pick your battles carefully, setting up locations that are easy to defend, and letting loose with long, unbroken auto fire. And if you can bring along more accurate, long-range weaponry to back up the RAPP-H, then you’ll probably be unstoppable.

Overview

The RAPP-H in MW2 is a brutally fast and furious LMG to use. The RAPP-H is a light machine gun with lots of power, lots of bullets, and is definitely worth dedicating a custom class to. And with the right build using MW2’s Gunsmith 2.0, it’ll become one of your favorite guns.

Although it is true that RAPP-H is not usually the most striking weapon, it should be noted that it has solid stats that make it interesting and it’s a gun we shouldn’t underestimate. This machine gun does not have much to envy other weapons. At the end of the day, each one is usually different and applied for a purpose. Eliminating enemies applies to all, only that we must have variations. It is not always the same in all cases.

Design

The design of the RAPP-H is based on a real-life Heckler & Koch HK21. The HK 21 is an early Cold War era machine gun of German origin. It was developed to supplement the G3 battle rifle, and about half of the parts are interchangeable. The HK 21 was a unique machine gun upon its introduction. It was much lighter and allowed for semi-automatic fire.

Weapon Stats

The weapon is particularly powerful since it has a very low rate of recoil and a very high rate of fire. Usually, a rapid rate of fire is accompanied by a high rate of recoil, but not with the RAPP-H. The only disadvantage of this weapon is that it is so slow that you must spend the entire game holding pre-aimed shots; however, add a couple attachments and you’ve got yourself a pretty lethal weapon. However, you’ll finish the game with a fantastic K/D.

In MW2, the RAPP-H is a viciously fast and ferocious LMG to operate, especially with the right build. There is no doubt that the RAPP-H is a light machine gun with a lot of power and lots of ammunition, and will also become one of your favorite weapons with the right build using MW2’s Gunsmith 2.0.

Damage

The RAPP-H outperforms most weapons in the current offerings of Modern Warfare 2. Its above-average damage output paired with its high fire rate makes it ideal for holding down entire open sections of 6v6 core battle maps. Expect to hold down the Atrium and market section of Mercado’s Las Almas with the incredible damage stats of the RAPP-H. Ideal for denying enemies looking to make an entry or exiting out of key routes and lanes in the multiple map offerings of Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer mode.

Mobility

It is important to keep in mind that you must run more slowly when you have this weapon equipped. The movement speed of this weapon makes it act similar to an AR.

Handling

The RAPP-H’s handling is rather poor, along with the other LMG’s. Aim times are very slow, and the hip-fire is mediocre at best. In addition, reloads are painfully long and can be quite commonplace with the small 30-round magazine.

Accuracy

The accuracy of the RAPP-H is questionable. The iron sights are somewhat bulky. Overall, the RAPP-H is a very accurate weapon statistically speaking but user experience differs from position to position and map to map, especially if it’s a core 6v6 map or a battle map in Ground War mode.

Recoil

The recoil of RAPP-H is the lowest in its class. Normally, a high rate of fire goes hand in hand with high recoil, but this is not the case with the RAPP-H. Paired with the right set of attachments and a steady ground position, the Recoil of the RAPP-H can be mitigated to the point where you can easily nail enemies gunning through entry points of the various maps sections in Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer.

Fire Rate

The weapon has very low recoil and has an extremely high rate of fire, making it very powerful. The moderate rate of fire at 750 RPM, coupled with its impressive center speed, makes the recoil very controllable.

Long Range

Long-range encounters can be dealt with by firing small bursts. Extended fire at long ranges coupled with the easily controllable recoil and the high power of the RAPP-H will allow the user to mow down enemies at choke points, allowing for easy containment of the enemy when securing objectives.

Medium Range

The RAPP-H will kill in 3 shots at any range, or 2 if headshots are involved, and has medium recoil. This makes the RAPP-H extremely powerful at medium range.

Lachmann Meer Weapons Platform

The RAPP-H is part of the Lachmann Meer Platform. The “Weapons Platforms” subsystem is a new part of the Gunsmith 2.0 system, which we talked about in previous guides. The main way to get guns in COD MW2 is to use weapons platforms. Your first weapons platform will be Tempus Armament, which comes with the M4 as its base weapon. As you move up in the ranks, you can use other weapon platforms. So, after reaching rank 16, you’ll be able to use Lachmann Meer.

How to Unlock RAPP-H in Modern Warfare 2

Weapons from the same manufacturing family fall under the Weapons Platform system of upgradation. That means that any weapon family that has similar ties can be upgraded to get the advanced version of that weapon. The same principle applies to the Lachmann guns, where you need to upgrade the Lachmann Meer base weapon to get the other SMG and LMG variants. The unlocking of RAPP-H will require you to reach some ranks.

You can unlock RAPP-H in the game by following these steps:

  1. First, reach rank 16 in the game and you’ll unlock the Lachmann-762.
  2. Next, reach Level 13 with the Lachmann-762 and you’ll unlock the Lachmann-556.
  3. Use the Lachmann-556 and reach Level 16 with it, after which you’ll unlock the RAPP-H.

After unlocking the gun, now what you have to do is use the best attachments on it to make the best loadout and use the gun to its full potential.

Bugs

In the beta, there’s a bug that makes it look like some weapons have one more level to go even though they are already at 100%. Don’t worry about that; it’s just a bug in the beta version of the game that will be fixed. Infinity Ward will likely patch the game and bugs at some point after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is officially released on October 28, 2022, with a potential Day One Patch.

Blueprints

Currently, no blueprints are available for the RAPP-H and will be listed once the game officially launches

Attachments

Since the RAPP-H is a light machine gun, players should expect to run slower with it equipped. Aside from its movement speed, though, the RAPP-H acts more like an AR than anything else. Throw in a few attachments, and you’ve got yourself a damn powerful weapon. The only downside is that this weapon is so slow that you basically need to spend the game holding pre-aims. But you will end the match with a great kill ratio.

The new Gunsmith now includes progression trees known as “Weapon Platforms” that ultimately allow players to equip their unlocked attachments to a range of different guns. This isn’t the only major change happening to weapon loadouts. Modern Warfare 2 will also debut with several new equipment items and an overhaul to the series’ perk system.

Perks

For basic perks, players will need to pick the Overkill and Scavenger Perks. The former allows players to carry another primary weapon, letting them have a better backup weapon. The Scavenger Perk will keep players well-stocked on ammo.

For bonus perks, players must pick the Fast Hands option. This bonus perk allows players to reload weapons, use equipment, and swap weapons faster. For the ultimate perk, players will use Ghost. This will keep them as low-profile as possible, avoiding UAVs, heartbeat sensors, and portable radars.

Alternative

The alternative you can use in place of RAPP-H is the Sakin MG38. It’s the highest damage LMG, but it’s also very sluggish and difficult to control. Overall, the Sakin just comes with too many downsides, especially when compared to the RAPP-H.
